Harry Potter

In my opinion this was the funniest and best Harry Potter! the only dissapointment for me was the last quarter was sorta boring and didn't have Ron and Hermione much at all.

Everyone was great and looked like they were having fun. This movie finally made me love the pairing Ron/Hermione and Ginny/Harry cause I use to be a Hermione/Harry shipper.

Did anyone else notice that the evil in this movie was just lurking? it didn't really feel like there was a big bad.

Can someone tell me if Half Blood Prince is just a nickname for Snape or is it like something big?

It is important to Snape, but nothing big in the general scheme of things.

That's something that I love and dislike at the same time! It was hilarious...almost too hilarious. It didn't have the same feel of the other Potter films.

I laughed so hard though. It was great. Yet not. I'm going to drive myself insane thinking about the humor, so I think I'll just stop!

Lol IMO the other movies needed it. I love how IMO it kinda balanced between seriousness unlike Bones Season 4.

A nickname but it's not a famous nickname. Just something Snape called himself at the time. It's not a big deal. The only future reference I remember (but my memory is bad...) is that in the last book one (two?) of the chapter titles contains the word prince. But not like that'll show in a movie. 😛

Book Six: The Flight of the Prince, Book Seven: The Prince's Tale (soo sad!). =P
Just like you I finally started reading. I read me the first two books now and liked them.
Yesterday I saw the new movie and it was fairly good, but not the best.
Anyways. Have fun!
Luna is supposed to be real good in the books

Harrmione? really? Except in the very first book I never saw chemistry other than brother-sister between them. 🙂

But as I've read Draco/Hermione fanfic already (if anything, that's stranger than the rather well done Draco/Harry fanslash I've read -
it played right after the end of the 7th book... thought I'd spoiler tag that in case anyone doesn't know yet both Draco and Harry survive that one 😉
), I guess there are shipping possibilities for everything. 😉

I LOVED the latest movie. Every minute of it. I know they cut a lot out by cinematically this was the best by far. I like to see them as separate things as much as the same thing (the books and films I mean). I love the films nearly as much as I love the books. My heart skipped when I heard Lupin. I <3 him.

I knew there was a good reason I like you :D
Speaking of Lupin.... It's really nothing that important, but I'll do a spoiler warning just in case. You never who is reading HBP for the first time and would slap me over the mystery of Tonks. (sw)

When Tonks called Remus "sweetheart", that bothered me. She was supposed to be depressed over him...hence her brown mousy hair. If they were going to cut that completely, they might as well have had her hair bubblegum pink!

that angered me too. a lot. they skipped over that entire plot.
I enjoyed the new film.

Was funny..And i liked the fact that the evil was always just lurking around as was said previous. I sure they have missed alot from the book but so have all the films..

i liked it thumbs up

Three in four people are Harry Potter fans.
Of course the books are good.

I bought the paperback boxed set about two weeks ago and dove in. It took me about a two days to read the first two books, during which time I bitched about the heavy-handedness of the metaphors, the lack of subtlety, etc. (and then reminded myself that these were written for KIDS), and also the way HP keeps getting REWARDED for breaking rules, the naughty little monkey. Then I got to book 3, and most of the bitching quit, because as the books grow up, so does the writing, the metaphor, and the subtlety, AND it becomes quite obvious that there are longer-term consequences for HP's constant rulebreaking. I nearly cried at the end of Goblet of Fire, then again at the end of Order of the Phoenix, and was in shock at the end of Half-Blood Prince. Now I'm about 6 chapters into Deathly Hallows, and I have to say, I get the craziness. I didn't read them when they came out because I'm not a bandwagon person, but I can definitely see what all the fuss was about (well, maybe not ALL the fuss--I don't get the people who play Quiddich by running around a football field with brooms between their legs--but a lot of it).

YAY!
I'm glad you stuck in there & gave it a chance! 🙂 A lot of people don't realize that the books grow as Harry does.

& as for the Quidditch. I'm one of 'those' people. 😛 I definitely get the running around on brooms thing. 😀

I saw the latest Harry Potter movie, too, and liked it quite a bit. I felt it was slower and quieter than the previous films, and thought that some of the scenes could have been longer (Tonks and Lupin, Snape vs. Dumbledore), but other than that no major complaints. Although, since Asmiley pointed out all the problems with the film, I can see where she's coming from. I also prefer the books, so I'm disappointed when some of my favorite characters don't get much screen time, particularly Luna (who's much more fleshed out in the books) and Ginny (same, but at least she has more to do in the films).

I agree.

What I really wanted to see in this particular film from Luna & Ginny were small things, but some of my favorite things in the books. Like Luna's commentating on Quidditch (hilarious!) and Ginny making fun of Fleur by calling her Phlegm, flipping her hair and dancing across the room in completely mockery. :]

I finished Deathly Hallows last night. The last chapter or so was punctuated with me going
of COURSE he has to die! The saviors of mankind ALWAYS have to die!
Also noticed a lot of Biblical metaphor, whether intended or not (though I'm leaning toward intended--it was just too obvious). Overall, I can definitely say I did not waste my time or money reading these and will probably read them again about as often as I reread The Lord of the Rings or the Arrows of the Queen trilogy.

I'm one of those sad cases I really enjoy the books. I have read all seven at least once. But I'm a lazy reader, I prefer audio books. So I bought all seven on CD, did the same with Lord ofthe Rings. With Potter I found that once you get to book three (Azkaban) the stories get stronger and better and of course darker. Books 6 & 7 are probably the best as it brings te story to a head. The films are good, the makers being normal in missing out good bits or creating things that did not actually happe. It's like watching a different version of the story.
