I've read all 7 books at least twice and 3-5 bunches of times, most recently up through book 3 aloud to my daughter. (We are waiting for the later ones with her as the darkness sets in rather quickly). I only discovered fan fiction when a friend started writing SSHG stuff and posting it. I became a lover of Dramione. And that oddly led me to Buffy. That same friend had been trying to get me to watch Buffy for a while and I was being a snob (why? Hated the movie). But she made some reference to blond bad boys inwhich she included both Draco and Spike, which intrigued me enough to give her the benefit of the doubt on the whole BTVS thing. So now, here I am on a damn fan board. Ha!

I've got The prisoner of azkaban,and its not (imo)as good as the film(as is often the case)
I like the covers though.
Some first additions are worth thousands of pounds/dollars,anyone got one:biggrin:?

I think my Goblet of Fire is a first edition. But I know there was lots of them so I don't think its worth that much!

All mine are the same editions except for The Half Blood Prince. Got Tesco to deliver it with the shopping on the day it was released and got the adult cover! 🙁
 
The only valuable ones are:
The philosphers(cant spell it)stone,that goes for about ten grand'ish(if mint'ish)
The chamber of secrets,£?
The prisoner of azkaban,£60-£80.
Only know 'cause i used to work in an antiques shop.
Look for the ISBN number online,it will tell you what addition it is.
 
For those who have the time and the books, it amazing to see the differences in different country editions. I know that there are quite differences between the UK and US editions, the classic difference is the first books title Philosophers/Sorcerer's Stone. There are several differences in the Dutch translations, mostly name changes, the German version strangely runs similar to the UK,except the editions I have (first four only) the cover pictures look pretty freaky, they make Harry look more like Madam Hooch in the first film played by Zoe Wanamaker (spelling?). I did say I was a sad case with HP, the Dutch set is not mine they belong to my more intelligent half.

Harry on the German cover looks the same on all of them. And now I can't unsee the difference between him and movie-Hooch. Thanks for that! 😛

Speaking of the German covers:
What annoys me about the German editions is that they changed the font on the covers by the time the fourth book was released. Newer editions of the first three books also have the new font but still; I have older ones so I have three books with one font and three books with the other. It's a minor detail but still annoying. I'm picky about stuff like that.
I even took a comparison picture. And now you can all enjoy Hooch-Harry 😉
What's also funny is that in the first couple of editions of the Philosopher's Stone they translated Sirius's last name in the first chapter. Then, when Prisoner of Azkaban was released and he became an important character they didn't translate it anymore and also changed it in newer editions.
 
I've never read the German version, only the original (I'm pretty sure my books are some UK edition). I know that a lot of names are spelled differently/"Germanized" in them though (the most prominent is Hermine instead of Hermione) and some are fully translated, which I hate ("Rita Kimmkorn" instead of "Rita Skeeter". WTF, doesn't even rhyme! *pout* ). I don't like the cover art on the German books much, it's slightly "expressionist" in style, I prefer the more naturalistic cover pics on the English books I have.
