Just wondering what everybody's opinion on what should happen relationship wise with Elsa in frozen 2?

In my opinion i would like for Elsa to either have a girlfriend or remain single, we have enough Disney princes after all 🙂

Hadn't heard about this because I don't follow Twitter, but eh I'm down 😛 Or like you said, keep Elsa single.

I dunno, I'm not against Elsa having a girlfriend or a boyfriend per se. I think I'd like her to remain single and show that you don't need a relationship in your life.... that you can still be powerful without that significant other.

Like the first film was about love between sisters and this one could be about love for yourself?

I don't think they should make anymore Frozen films. The first one was awful. It got a 3/10 From Winter AKA she destroyed the lounge rather than paying any attention to it.

Priceless

Agreed, terrible film ;-)
In case you guys don't know, SMG said she liked "Let It Go" in her reddit AMA.

I'm so sad. It's a truly awful song. I don't understand why it could be the backbone of a frigging musical.

This doesn't mean its other songs are any better or something.

Kiddos love it...that's why. I'm sure her kids were obsessed with it.
I would make a nice change for sure to have a girl-loving princess... but I doubt it would happen.
Best to make Elsa stay single and loved and then loads of people can just pretend that Anna ain't really her sister...😉

I like the way you think :)

Not only do I doubt it'd happen, but I'm 99.99% sure that this would never happen. The one "kid" show that ever displayed a lesbian relationship was the Legend of Korra, and that lasted a whole 10 seconds at the end...and the show was pulled off the air and put online for being "too mature" so it wasn't even really a kid show. There's no way Disney will make one of their Princess gay (sadly).

I like when people try to get their opinion voiced as long as they act civil about it. Given time I think Disney will adapt to the real world and have a gay relationship in their movies. Will it be done in the next Frozen? Probably not.

Yeah, I agree. I love LoK but it did develop into something other than a kids show towards the end. I'm glad we got that resolution at least. 🙂

The thing about Frozen- its really popular, the most popular film Disney's had in a while actually. But I think they have to realise why it became so popular. It wasn't the songs- most of which are forgettable- or the plot (which is really thin), or the wacky/comedy sidekicks, it was the subversion of the damsel/rescue trope.
There is no handsome prince to come save anybody, it was all about a deeper sort of love. Disney would go with that, if they were brave enough.

I dunno, my niece and her friends (age 6) are obsessed with the songs and the costumes. Kids don't understand plot or tropes, kids love pretty colours, catchy songs and slapstick comedy, all of which Frozen has in spades. It spread like wildfire ,not because adults were watching it, or cared much about it, but because kids were, and talked about it to their friends. Frozen is essentially a disease spread across playgrounds. 😉

Don't get me wrong, I think out of all Disney movies it sends the best message, better than the others. I agree the plot is nothing although I think the songs are well written and catchy, but we're not the target audience. Those little six year old girls and other young kids are. Saying this, I think even Disney was surprised by its success.

But, the fact it is Disney will hamper any progression with regards to depictions of sexuality. Not that I'm suggesting the company is homophobic by any means, but they tend to stick to a tried and tested formula. Now Disney owns Star Wars and Marvel, which although are aimed at a more grown up audience, you'd still struggle to find them addressing more adult topics. There's talk about them making a Star Wars character gay, but Disney don't tend to go out of its comfort zone. They would never release anything R rated. They avoid sex/extreme violence/blood/bad language. I doubt we will ever see a gay character on Star Wars, and if we do, I highly doubt we will see them kiss their same-sex partner.

Basically, if Frozen was owned by another company (Dreamworks for example), I would imaging Elsa being allowed a girlfriend eventually. With Disney, I'm just not sure we will ever see them being that forward thinking, just purely because they're Disney. 🙄

Ok, I just read there will be a lesbian couple in Finding Dory. Not main characters, just a couple in a scene with a pushchair, but it's a step in the right direction. 🙂

I also doubt it will happen, but it is a cool movement. There's actually been a #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend as well that followed suit.

Which is also owned by Disney, so not going to happen either no matter what people want
I hate twitter and will never be part of it. But as for Elsa, I hope she remains single, if we're going to try to make a positive message out of it. (Perhaps I should point out that I'm a lesbian. I have my reasons for preferring Elsa stay single which has nothing to do with thinking lesbians are wrong, and perhaps the next princess can fill that role. This is all trivial to me anyway and I probably wouldn't have replied at all if it weren't about 1 AM and I just woke up for awhile.)

Though I must admit I smiled at the thought of Captain America getting a boyfriend.

He already has one surely. Bucky.
From that first movie its been fairly obvious that- after Peggy Carter- Cap's love interest is Bucky.

I would say Falcon, but he's got this unrequited thing going on with Steve. It's a bit sad.

Yeah, but a lot of people don't see it like that. And guess Marvel doesn't either, as they had Steve kiss Peggy's niece in Civil War. It's one thing to have Steve focusing on Bucky in all three movies in a way that could be seen as gay, and another to actually make him gay.

As a side note, Bucky was with Natasha in the comics which I think could also be cool, especially since Clintasha is now down the drain.

What is it that make you think that Steve is in love with Bucky?

Yeah, but a lot of people don't see it like that.
I'm one of those. Steve got a few traits that by some could be seen as feminine or lame like caring and the boy scout thing. He's not your typical macho guy in the movies. I wouldn't have a problem with Steve being gay and getting a boyfriend. So far I just haven't see it. Maybe since it's been brought up I pick up on something when I watch the movies again.

What is it that make you think that Steve is in love with Bucky?
The fact that he's been focused on rescuing him for three full movies now. 🙄

But really, I think it's been left kind of ambiguous, no clear indication that he does love him in a romantic way but no indication that he doesn't. Same way with him being gay (or bi actually). So those who want to believe there's something more between them can, and those who don't want to can see it as purely a strong platonic friendship. I probably lean more toward just a friendship, simply because I'm not one to read into things like that, but I can see how others would. (And honestly, some of the tumblr stuff I've seen of them together is adorable.)

Also, on the subject of Cap & Peggy.... isn't it weird to anyone else that he was in love with Peggy Carter, and then kissed her niece Sharon in Civil War after burying Peggy.... keeping it in the Carter family is obviously a thing for Steve. Sharon's future child better be on the lookout!

But yeah, he's hot for Bucky. Who wouldn't be? He's tall, dark, handsome and mysterious. The fact he snogged Sharon was just misdirection.
