I heard the song a few times on the radio (it's always one of those songs that seems kinda familiar, if that makes any sense) and checked it out on youtube the other day. I know it's old, but I'd never seen it before, and it kinda blew me away. And by kinda I mean totally. It's such a deep, haunting song. What do you guys think?

I had to laugh out loud when I saw what song it was. For a few years that song was everywhere! Anyone over 30 remembers it well, if not fondly, for how frequently it got played. Certainly on the music TV channels. It wasn't until the grunge explosion in 91/2 that it started to get played less.

To think, when tthat song came out you were in nappies and I was almost a teenager. Hands up all those who feel old 🙂

*raises hand*

I do like the song, but as you may have gathered, I have heard it a lot and its effect has diminished ome somewhat now.

thank god for grunge! it's not the worst song though, in fairness
I remember when this song came out. No offence (I know you're younger) but this is a really famous song haha 🙂 It's very beautiful though. I have the album too, which I used to use to fall asleep to. That might sound a bit disparaging to the artist, but it's wonderful music to relax to.

Man, I really didn't know it was a big hit like that. Here I thought I'd discovered some sort of hidden gem! I'm getting the exact opposite feeling: young and stupid lol .

I absolutely love this song, although I've never seen the video before....and I'm not in that particular age bracket that heard the song when it first came out, but hey! Most of the music I love comes from way before my time. 😉 I also enjoy H.I.M's cover of it. They have similar voice patterns as well.

Sorry man, the idea was definitely not to make you feel stupid!

There's a reason that age is on my mind today, which will become apparent in the not too distant future 😀

haha, no no, I know. I just thought it was kind of funny
LOL I second what Bluebird said... This song is pretty famous to the older ones of us here. But it's awesome that yore discovering it now!!

Anyone else associate this with Ross & Rachel? 😀

So that's where I heard this song before! it was bugging me before I read your post, thanks!
One of my fave tunes.
You bumped into a good video to a great song, AB. Very sexy and ethereal. And have you seen the woman's eyes? She could hypnotize one into doing anything with those things. 😛

I recorded a karaoke cover of this song a few months ago. Very tough to do as Chris Isaak has a very stylized vocal.

The eyes are incredible.

I love your version of it, but I'm sure you knew
Eh, not really. Even though the lyrics don't really mesh, the tune, how mournful it sounds, reminds me of Buffy and Angel quite a bit.

Lol, we're the same age and now I feel old nonetheless 😛

Dunno if you watch Friends all that much, but the song was playing when Ross & Rachel had their first date at the planetarium 😛

grr hit enter too soon!

nightshade agrees: I love your version of it, but I'm sure you knew
that already 😛

But I will admit to not of hearing it before I heard OM's version!

I'm among the older ones on this board so yes I've seen this. Don't feel stupid though. I think it's great when people discover "older" gems, be it music, films or shows. I get nostalgic. Need to check out other songs from 1990. Even though this is from 1989. Took a while to break.

Check out the Pikies, it'll be sure to shake you out of that nostalgia(if that's what you desire) :-)
