Has anyone noticed the much higher prices of live plants this year?

My wife loves to fiddle around with planting flowers around our house and in the yard. some for the attraction of humming birds and butterflies, and some to help make the yard more attractive. So on her outing to pick up a few live plants we where just stunned at how much more expensive things were this year as compared to last year. In some cases almost double.
And we're not talking about any exotics either but just the normal run of the mill pansy's, petunias, impatience's, ect, plants that are native to us here in the States.
Even vegetable starts were expensive too.

You can't convince me that these price increases have anything to do with the recent tariff war's as all of these were produced here and not imported.!

Just inflation. Its the same down under. I generally get seeds and they used to be under $5 a pack, but now its hard to find anything under that. I got pansys the other day for $3.95 but the daisys and gebera were closer to $20. Worth it for me to have something pretty after a hard summer, but not cheap!

Gardening isnt a cheap or easy hobby to have! I duno why people always say horses are so time consuming and expensive - they are less work and effort than a garden!

And they provide you with all the free fertilizer you can shovel!🐎💩

Exactly! I don't even have a horse right now and I have bags and bags of horse poop in my garden and compost pile now, all free :D
