Has anyone read the back of Season 5 boxset?!?

Ok guys so I recently started a re-watch of the entire Buffy series. Just finished season 4 and was about to start season 5 when I gave the aul back of the box a read and... OH...MY...GOD... I'm used to inaccuracies on the back of DVDs but this is beyond hilarious!


This season the likeable, but brutally capable Buffy is joined by her 14 year old sister Dawn. Where Dawn has been buried up to this point is painstakenly revealed, tormenting Buffy like a freshly hung victim in a noose, kicking for dear life. Luckily Buffy lands a new boyfriend, Riley Finn. First year college disorientation is followed by a dreaded sophomore slump with more grown-up ghastliness and bizarre encounters. To help overcome new difficulties, Buffy's gang gains two spectacular spectres, Spike, a surly English Vampire and Anya, Xander's jealous 1100 year-old, long-time-dead former ghoulfriend.

[/B]First of all "the likeable but brutally capable Buffy"? What??? Just what? Such a strange description of Buffy. She's likeable but brutally capable, so you know, watch out!

"Luckily Buffy lands a new Boyfriend, Riley Finn." Oh yeah that's right Riley came into things in season five just after the whole initiative dealy, I forgot that.

"To help overcome new difficulties, Buffy's gang gains two spectacular spectres, Spike, a surly English Vampire and Anya, Xanders jealous, and long-time-dead former ghoulfriend" Yup that's exactly what happened Anya and Spike two "spectres" (eh no!!) were introduced to... em... help overcome "new difficulties"...hmmm

Wow quite the overview. I think it really, you know, highlights some of the best points of season 5, I'm sure you'll agree.

As Oz would say I call this a radical interpretation of the text!

Gave me and my flatmate such a good laugh though.

It doesn't surprise me at all though! I'm totally going home to read the back of all my boxsets now.

Considering by the time I got the box sets I already knew what happened, I never bothered reading the backs. I feel kind of glad yet kind of disappointed that I never read them.
 
Anya was long time dead?! Why did no one tell me that! hhahahaha I just read the back of season 6 (which is the only one I've got with me) and it's more or less accurate. I wonder who wrote that.
 
Where in dear lord did you get your Season 5 copy? That is awful! I don't have the individual seasons anymore, I sold them to get "The Chosen Collection." But I remember reading the backs of every Buffy set I had and NONE of them said anything like that! LOL! That is just too hilarious!

It's the UK (and Ireland) version. The one they're currently selling! Still laughing...

Yep that cracks me up every time. A friend had watched up to disc 5 in Season five and was convinced that it was a different season she'd been watching after reading that 😀
 
OMG i just went to check this and u are totally right!!! Cant beleive I never noticed this!!! :O This actually makes me feel anger towards whoever wrote this.
 
LOL! I noticed that myself a few days ago as I started to rewatch Season 5 last week. I was just thinking to myself "Who the hell wrote this crap!?" 😛

Seriously though, it's a pretty big gaffe. If I put myself in the shoes of someone who is not familiar with the show but wants a Vampire fix or whatever, that description would not have parted me with my money.
 
It is terrible. I don't tend to keep DVD boxes unless they're really nicely designed so I got rid of that one pretty quick. If I remember correctly Charisma Carpenter and David Boreanaz are listed on the Buffy season 4 box set cast list.
