Has Cangel become one of the major ships?

Something I've been thinking about lately.
Bangel and Spuffy have been the 2 main ships in the Buffyverse (or so I figure). But lately I see more and more Cangels, and Cangel love. This ship gets so much attention that I think it's as major as Spuffy and Bangel today. It has become one of the main ships of the verse.

Do you agree with that?
 
I can't say I see any more Cangel activity around than I have before. That's not to say there hasn't been in increase, I just haven't noticed it. 🙂
 
Cangel...DUH!

I love Cangel honestly! There is nothing I don't like about them.

Cangel is the only "Official" ship I like since I can't stand Spuffy or Bangel at all.

I haven't noticed it, but then I tend to block out the Cangel stuff as much as I can.
 
I can believe it. I've noticed a lot of Cangel love around the BB and outside the BB, which is awesome! 😀 I also notice more and more people who like Angel better than BtVS (mostly outside the BB), so I can see how Cangel has become a major ship in the Buffyverse.
 
When I joined the fandom about a year ago, I thought everyone thought of Cangel as a "main" ship. I haven't thought of Cangel as anything other than that. I don't ship Cangel, but I think the way I define the "main ships" is different from others. The way I define the "main ships" is like this: Buffy and Angel are the two stars. The shows were named after them. They are both allowed two "main ships" that involve them. They both had each other. And then they need one more for the 4/5 years they were apart. Buffy had Spike... and Angel had Cordelia.

Yeah, I agree. I think it can be (and should be) considered a main ship. I know several people who consider it their main ship.
 
I think it probably has the same status as Gunn/Fred or something. Some people don't consider it a relationship it all. Which is sad, if you ask me. 😉

It's a funny one, because the characters themselves only really understand their attraction in hindsight once it's too late to do anything about it. In the first year after Angel moves to LA, his close working relationship is with Kate, and then the season afterwards is full of Darla baggage so I think it's more about a deep trust and understanding of each other than a romantic relationship.
 
I really didn't notice I see Cangel fans around but I have not noticed if the love has gone up. I can say for myself I see Cangel as my OTP because I take them very seriously. To me they are a main ship 😛
 
The romance aspect of it was so brief that I don't particularly think of it when I think "ship."

Regardless, their friendship is undeniably strong and lively. I think they make great friends, but nothing more than that.
 
I don't know as I've only been around the fandom for a year. So I have no idea if there are more Cangel fans now than in the past.

Honestly I would put Dangel right up there with Cangel in terms of importance in the overall scheme of ATS. Not to mention that Angel & Darla's relationship was very longlasting.

But overall I don't tend to think of "major" and "minor" 'ships. They're just all 'ships! Yes, Buffy & Angel's 'ships get more airplay and prominence because they're the main characters in their shows.

I don't mean Cangel and Bangel were the two more important relationships of Angel's. I mean they're the two with the largest following. I think both of the two main characters have two relationships that have the biggest following. One is each other (Bangel), the other is someone they connected with in the years after they were apart (Spike, Cordelia).

I think Dangel was a crazy important relationship for Angel and the series Ats. Thematically, it says more about the series than Cangel does. However, it does not have the fan following Cangel does.

I see what you're saying now.
Cangel is more like Santa Claus to me - it doesn't really exist. If Angel was going to be with someone it was always going to be Spike. I haven't noticed an increase in Cangel shipping, there are always a few odd people around that ship them.

No, I don't think Cangel is a major 'ships. Nothing will top Spuffy and Bangel.

I love Cangel, though. They're my favorite 'ship next to Spuffy.
 
If were talking basic storyline then I think they're considered a ship, yes. Not a major one, but a recognized one. But in terms of fandom, its just not there. Not like Bangel and Spuffy. I've always liked and respected their relationship, nonetheless.
