Has Cangel become one of the major ships?

InsaneMystic agrees: whut? am I just reading this wrong, or are there really people who don't consider Gunn/Fred a 'ship?

Oh, sorry! I made that kind of confusing, didn't I? 😛 I meant those as two separate statements. There are some people to where it's kind of a ship but it's not quite the "real deal" (the way in mainstream fandom Fred/Gunn might be to Fred/Wesley and Cangel might be to Buffy/Angel), and then there are people who don't even consider it a ship at all. At least that's been my experience.
 
Yeah, def think of them as a ship and I do think they are getting kind of major.

I've noticed that a lot of Spuffy fans are really into Cangel too. That's not always the case but that's they way it's been cropping up lately for me.
 
I cannot really comment on how much attention the ship is getting, since I am fairly new to buffy forums. I personally didn't really like them together (please don't hurt me). But they do seem to be becoming more of a topic, like when you talk to people about either show (BtVS and Angel).

Have we been watching the same show? The first signs of a bit more than friendship were set in late season 2, in all of s3 it was a major storyline, it's what led to the cliffhanger at the end of the season, in s4 it was still about them (although there was only obstacles in their way), and their relationship finally concluded in season 5 when Cordy died, but not without that one last kiss we'd all been hoping for.
Is that what counts as brief these days? They might not have gotten all the make out scenes, but emotionally, it lasted at least as long as Spuffy.

For me, Cangel has always been THE main ship.
And I do think it deserves a spot as the main ships. If you think about, it does make sense. Buffy and Angel were the 'original' couple of the show. It already started in s1, and it went forth and back for literally years. I'm not a Bangel, but even I have to admit the tension this still created even in the later seasons. Somebody always brings up Buffy?Angel at some point during the season, implying that both Buffy and Angel are still thinking about it. And then there's the new school couples. Things heat up between Buffy and Spike, so they become the main competition for Bangel, as now there's people thinking screw Angel, Spike is better with Buffy. And just as there's somebody major new for Buffy, there's also a major new love interest for Angel (sort of mirroring the Buffy/Spike thing), and that love interst is Cordy. So, to me, as much as Cangel is to Bangel as Spuffy is to Bangel, therefore making it a main ship, one of The Big 3. The reason why I call it that way is because, even though all the characters on Buffy and Angel are in teresting, Buffy and Angel are and will always be the main characters, and being so sorta pushes their love interests furthest up front.

To me Cangel is a main ship. I saw the beginning of it in season 2's Dead End, it had a slow progression but by the end of season 3 it was there. It's my second ship after Spangel, I love how they became friends, and supported each other through everything that happened. Angel jumped dimensions for her, he admitted that he was scared of her dying, showing real deep feelings for her. she made him laugh and helped draw him out of his brooding.

I simply had to post in a thread about Cangel, just to show my support. 🙂 It's definitely a ship, and I consider it one of the major ones, because it involves two very important characters and it went through a couple seasons!

Cangel fans unite. 😉

No surprise here. I LOVEEEEEE Cangel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are only the best ship in the entire world. I love Spuffy too, but Cangel are the best!!!!

They are the reason I'm so crazy all the time. They might not be a main ship to you people, but they are to me!!!!
Cangel is my main ship.

Of course it is a main ship. Just because some fans don't like it doesn't mean it never happened. If that was so, the Bangel and Spuffy fans would have canceled each other out years ago and the Buffyverse would have 0 main ships.

I really liked the Angel/Cordelia relationship. I believe that if AtS season 4 was different and Cordelia was never possessed than a lot more people would like Cangel. Even, season 4 is a stain upon the ship.

Plot-wise, series-wise, yes. Cordelia was Angel's main love interest in his own series, after he and Buffy parted ways. Like Buffy with Spike. So technically, it should be right up with the others. But fan-wise? I don't think so. It is a ship, and steadily getting bigger, but not quite in the big leagues yet. Big leagues being Spuffy and Bangel. If the writers had expanded more on it, it may have been, but they didn't, so not as many fans. I support Cangel, personally. 😛
 
Bangel and Spuffy are the leads big relationships in Btvs (Sorry Briley fans) while Cangel is that in Ats. When it comes to the verse as a hole it can be discussed in very different ways how to see these relationships. I try to avoid those discussion mostly. Personal taste can't be disproved by the thoughts of others, but it can give perspective which can lead to a change of heart.

All other relationships in the shows aren't any less important but to me it isn't a surprise that these are the ones that cause the most interest, discussion and heated debates.


edit: For those who care I'm a definite Cangel while I don't really care about Buffy's relationships in that way.
 
lets face it if you ship a ship then its a major ship to you. You think that ships major or you wouldn't chose to ship it would you?

I ship Cangel because I think its an epic ship and I love them together. I would say its major because I ship it, although others that don't ship Cangel will probably argue it isn't.

I think Cangel would have been accepted as a major ship if AtS season 4 hadn't completely annihilated Cordelia's character.

Sure she turned out not to be the real Cordy at the end of the season, but the hatred that must have mounted up after each episode and festered a full weak until the next episode... Let's just say I'm extremely glad I didn't watch until last year.

I think so but the way I see "major ship", which might be totally wrong, I don't agree. It might be a major one to the ones shipping it yes, but as a whole during the whole show/shows/verse I'd make distinctions.
