Just wondering if your opinion has changed over time from when your first watched the entire shows?

Do you know why your opinion has changed of the 2 shows?

Have you changed your favourite characters since the first watch?

Has your favourite ship changed over the years?

Just wondering if your opinion has changed over time from when your first watched the entire shows?

Yes. In the sense that I used to be obsessed and crazy in love with the shows. Nowadays I still have a deep love/special fondness for them but I'm not sure I'd characterize it as the best thing I've ever seen anymore. I don't re-watch it as often either. I'll always love Buffy and Angel but... it's more nostalgic and at a distance I guess

I've changed? I started watching when I was like 13 or something so I certainly hope so at least 😉

Buffy came into my life at a time when I really needed it and it had a great impact on me then. Now I don't relate to the show as I once did but that seems only natural to me.

Have you changed your favourite characters since the first watch?
Interestingly enough not really. I mean I've grown less fond of Spike who used to be a favorite but the others Buffy, Angel and Faith are still intact as my faves.

Has your favourite ship changed over the years?

Nope not at all. Still Bangel. But what has changed is that I'm now very fond of Briley and Nangel as well 🙂

Yes.

I started analyzing the show, looking at the patterns, comparing the dialog lines, researching the lore - stuff like that.

Have you changed your favourite characters since the first watch?

No, it's still Buffy.

Has your favourite ship changed over the years?

No. I've always been ship-free.

Not a whole lot; but I do find myself enjoying Angel more than BTVS these days. I think part of that is because over time I've grown fonder of the character Angel.

Have you changed your favourite characters since the first watch?

Nope, I've always loved Angel, Riley, Cordy and Oz. I have come to dislike some characters more over time; I attribute that to long in depth discussions about each character I've had that have made me look at character flaws differently.

Has your favourite ship changed over the years?

Nope, I've always been a fan of Angel/Buffy and Riley/Buffy.

Yes, although I did miss some of the episodes of each show initially (the middle part of S6 Buffy and most of S4 Angel - after the Cordy/Connor thing, I only watched sporadically with the exception of when Faith and Willow were there)

Do you know why your opinion has changed of the 2 shows?

Well, some is due to now wathing ALL of the episodes, but also just getting old and being a parent now

Have you changed your favourite characters since the first watch?
Giles was my total, major crush (intelligence is hot - and the accent isn't bad, either). I like Spike more now than I did then, and Willow slightly less, but nothing's changed other than that. I still love Faith as I did then.

Has your favourite ship changed over the years?
Yes. Then, I loved Bangel and didn't even see much Spuffy until S7 (which is more friendship than anything else then to me). And the lack of actually getting Cangel really pisses me off more now. And, I do ship Spuffy now.

I first got into Buffy in about Grade 10, when my brother showed the series to me on DVD. We watched them together and I found I really took to the series. It was easy to connect to and I was the same age as the characters in the show so I found I was able to really relate to many of them.

I burned through both Buffy and Angel, and really, really enjoyed it. Angel was my favorite character and Bangel was the relationship I liked the best (even though I enjoyed almost all of them). I found that Buffy and Angel together struck a chord with me in large part because that type of passion and pure love is, corny as it sounds, something I've always wanted to find in my own life. It helped that I've had a huge thing for Buffy the character since the day I saw her. If I could design a perfect girlfriend, it would be Buffy Summers.

After I finished the series though, it kind of drifted to the back of my head I guess. I was watching Smallville at the same time and LOST right after high school ended, and both of those shows were really big for me, especially LOST. It was another show I found I was really able to identify with, and the ending helped me, not let go, but move on from some tough stuff in my own life.

I didn't really a show that felt that personal to me for a while after LOST ended. Smallville always had the nostalgia factor working for me, but I felt it drifted quality wise once Lex and Lana left.

About a 14 months ago, I decided to re-watch Buffy. I hadn't seen it, or Angel, in years and I was looking for something to do. I was saving every penny to get away to school by working two jobs, and things had been beyond horrible in my life in the previous year or so. Everything had just collapsed all around me. I just decided to watch Buffy again on a whim as a distraction.

And without question, that show, and Angel, just saved me. I'd forgotten a lot about both series, so they were basically new to me again. I found I liked it way, way more than the first time around. It became a therapy, that's the best way I can describe it. Buffy became my favorite character of all time, and more than just that, she and Angel became like role models to me in a way, much more than before. I know they're fictional characters, but I came to a bit of a realization that, real or not, these are the people I really admire, and want to be like. I have a few other characters like that from other shows (namely Robb Stark, from Game of Thrones), but I can't think of anyone I'd want to be like more than Buffy and Angel.

I've been beyond hooked ever since. I'm constantly re-watching both series and about two months ago I got a tattoo under my right shoulder which is a combination of Buffy, Angel and Game of Thrones (as soon as my tech skills catch up to everyone else on the planet, I'll upload it on here). It's kind of hard to explain, but Buffy and Angel has made my life better. I still have problems of course, everyone does, but even the big ones are easier to bear and deal with now. I have no shame in saying that Buffy and Angel gave me the tools to do that.

My favorite characters haven't changed all that much (still in love with Buffy 😀), but what the show means to me has. If I can narrow it down to one instance, it was Angel's line in "Deep Down", which is part of my tattoo: "We live as though the world were as it should be, to show it what it can be". No doubt, that line changed my life.

Yes

Do you know why your opinion has changed of the 2 shows?
I think so. I think there is a number of things that has changed my opinion.

I used to think Buffy was the best show on tv, and watching other tv shows made me think they were better and kinda made me think it wasn't as good as I thought it was. The quality of other shows kinda pointed out Buffys flaws to me.

Have you changed your favourite characters since the first watch?

No, my favourite characters are still my favourite. The only one that's changed is I like spike allot less.

Has your favourite ship changed over the years?
How can you change something you know is the right answer?

That is pretty much exactly how I feel also.

Do you know why your opinion has changed of the 2 shows?

Hmmm, well I guess its because the first time I ever watched Buffy I was around 10 years old. So obviously my opinions and thoughts about it would have changed since then.

Have you changed your favourite characters since the first watch?

Yep. When I was little my favourites were Xander, Buffy and Angel. Nowdays its Cordelia, Spike and Lorne.

Has your favourite ship changed over the years?

Again, yep. My favourite was Bangel. Now its Spuffy. My love for all my other favourite ships hasn't changed though 🙂

Yes and no.

I often tend to go back on separate episodes now, rather than watch the whole series again which i used to. So i just tend to pick out 4/5/6 episodes that i loved, then watch them lol.

I don't think my feelings have changed towards it. After watching it,then watching it again, you pick up on things that you may not have noticed the first time, and you think of more things that you would have done differently,as the first time around you don't really think about what you would change.

I'm still in favor of Buffy & Angel, but i became partial to Darla and Angel as well.

If anything the only change is that my affection and appreciation for the show and the characters has deepened.

The answer is : not really. I think my opinions on BTVS and ATS haven't changed much since my first watch. Same goes for favorite characters/and least favorite and ships.

I think it has to an extent. I mean, I don't watch either show as often as I used to or spend as much time thinking about them or analysing them - but they're always going to be a part of me.

Sometimes I wish I could get selective amnesia so I can watch both series for the first time 😀

I have to say (add I guess) that for me, the only changes have been in increasing my fondness for characters.... By there are some characters that despite however many rewatches I just cannot seem to enjoy.

My opinion of both shows have changed for sure... and for the better! I can appreciate the show, the actors and the whole meaning of everything so much more now. I feel for Buffy more now than when i was younger as obviously when you get older more of the 'demons' in life can come out and more pain, work, choices etc.

Based on the characters I have changed my mind on Riley - i used to think he was sooooo annoying but now i think hes kinda sweet 9except for leaving buffy of course) and Giles is defo one of my favs these days. But Buffy and Spike have always been a solid fav of mine not just for spuffy but as individuals

😀 Good old Buffy&Angel
(sorry you didnt ask for an essay lol)

Yes it has but not in a way that my actual opinion of whether its good or not had changed. I still think its a great show, with great writing but whereas when I was a kid, and a teenager, I adored it and I don't think a day went by why I didn't watch an episode. Whereas now I occasionally want a nostalgic buffy fest or I'll catch an episode on tv and enjoy the nostalgia trip, but a bit like Taake said above, when I was really into it was when I was going through a lot of stuff that was relatable to the struggles etc that were going on in the show. Whereas now, in my 20s, my life, and myself have changed and I don't find it as relatable anymore.
My favourite characters haven't really changed;Buffy was always my fave, and still is, alongside Anya (intermittently) but now I also like Giles' character a lot.
As for ships I've never really been a shipper- I've always liked each relationship for different reasons.

For me BtVS is just a really, really great show. A brilliant show actually.
But it doesn't have any special meaning or something like that.

So no, my views haven't changed much.
I still just think it's a brilliant show. Just like I thought the first time I watched it.

/SK

Thinking about it a bit more, my opinion on Riley has changed a little bit. He's still not a character I really like or anything, but knowing that he isn't the new be-all-end-all love interest for Buffy makes me appreciate the cool parts of his character more. I guess I'm saying I don't actively hate him anymore 🙂. He's actually not even a bad character.

Buffy is still what it always was - a great show. They didn't do everything right but it was still better than any other show that was on at the time. When Angel came on, some of its episodes were better than the Buffy episodes that aired at the time. A lot of Season 4 of Buffy sucked, possibly because there was suddenly a new show for Joss Whedon to obsess about and he couldn't give appropriate attention to Buffy when he was trying to get Angel off the ground.

Buffy runs at least four days (sometimes five) a week on Much Music, the Canadian equivalent of MTV, at 5:00 PM. Once they get to Chosen, they start over again and I have watched it through several cycles. Much Music used to have a Saturday recap of all the previous week's Buffy episodes, but they dropped that in favour of a recap of Gilmour Girls. I have not seen any reruns of Angel on TV. I have the DVD set for both Buffy and Angel and I have watched tham all, including the extra items - explanation of how things were done etc.

I am on this site because I think it is worthwhile to discuss Buffy and Angel. Some people call it obsession. Guess what? They're right.

Has my opinion of the shows changed?

Yes, I love them even more than I once did.

Do you know why your opinion has changed of the 2 shows?

Mainly because I matured, and experienced alot more things that cast most of the choices/actions in the show into a different light.

Have you changed your favourite characters since the first watch?

Yes. I originally did not like Faith or Cordelia very much, but I've grown to love them.

Has your favourite ship changed over the years?

Nope, it's still Bangel, and it always will be!
