Have the holidays become too commercial?

Hm. As I said in an earlier post, I really love christmas. Every year I'm looking forward to it. And every year it's good, it's nice with all the food and the presents (giving and getting). Everyone is feeling quite good and all. But, what makes me like it less every year is the fact that I'm starting to know more and more people who don't celebrate christmas. Because of religion, that they can't afford it or just the fact that they don't like it. So these people don't like chistmas, and every time christmas is mentioned they look like it's really annoying or something. Which I get. Of course. But still, people keep complaining about my favorite holiday (the only holiday I have ever really celebrated) and that makes me like it less! (Oh yeah, I have big troubles to worry about, don't I.. Heh...)

I would have to say yes my friend.

Most people and children only care about the presents they will receive on Christmas.
All started my Saint Nicholas. Also know as Santa Claus. Most people don't ever know how it started. I don't know if the story I know is accurate or not. But I doesn't matter.

Christmas is about the birth of Christ, not about Santa and elves and presents.
Also another thing, the gift giving use to mean more because most people use to have to save their money to buy presents at the end of the year. Some people still do, because they don't have that much money. It tends to mean more to them because they don't have much.

Christmas is a time to be with family.
My grandma got tired of trying to find presents for everyone so now she just gives each family unit a $100, so they can buy what they want.

Christmas cards are away to show how much you care. But it's annoying when the people you sent cards to don't sent you one back. That's just rude. Not mad at you for not sending one you just seam to forget about those things.

Also I think it is better to finish your Christmas shopping in October or November. Because after Thanksgiving people are crazy when they go shopping. And their are more people out there. Also don't do any shopping until after the new year. Because they are also out to return gifts and buy from the after Christmas sales.

But given that I don't really do the whole religion thing, if you could make Christmas exclusively about a Christian story, then all it becomes for me is another cold day in December. Don't hog your holidays people!
