Have you filled out your census form yet?

I have to wait for a replacement form or go to a "be counted" location. I'd lose my head if it weren't attached to my body, as that stupid line goes.

Yeah There are some people in America who are resisting the census for some reason and I honestly don't understand it and was wondering why.

Because THE GOVERNMENT IS WATCHING! They will sell our information to terrorists or big business. No! To both! There is a LOT of right-wing paranoia here.

Because the Constitutional point of the Census is to adjust the House of Representatives as necessary. That's all. Some of the other stuff they ask on the census is totally none of their business, regardless of how they claim they're going to use it/not use it.

I don´t know which kind of question there are in your census, so can´t really comment if they´re being crazy or not.

But maybe a little paranoia is involved lol

a census is when the government sends out a questionnaire to figure out the statistics of the population, population of states, how many Asian people versus White people etc. It's a massive undertaking that happens once every 10 years.

I think here we´ll have a culture shock, so please be patience with my opinion.... US is known to be worried with freedom, so I think I understand what I was calling "paranoia".

After reading my first thought was "SO WHAT?" I was imagining really weird question, asking about your incoming or whatever... but they only wanna know how much you are and what color u.u How can this be so "not free"? I really don´t understand the worry.
The government need this information, IMO, to know if the population has their own houses, or if they live paying rent... if the US has big families, small families, single men/women living alone etc.

Really don´t see any problem.

Here they ask how many bathrooms are in the house, how your garbage is disposed, if you´ve gone to college, if you know how to read and write, the income of the house owner etc...

I didn't look at the link cuz, you know, not American, but in regards to the point of the census and whether they are useful or not I just wanted to say, they 100% are. At least, they are to me. I'm about 4 weeks away from graduating with a histroy degree and census archives are absolutely invaluable to me and what I study. The amount of information that can be garnered about a time and place from a census is immense. Socio-ecomonic climates, immigration trends, education levels, the make-up of the family unit, ethnicity and so and so on. These are primary soucre documents that really are just priceless.

I know I'm probably the only one who actually cares about this but seriously, having a census is not only a big deal but totally necessary.
