Agreed, as his effort in Silent Hill was dodgy as well. Then again that whole movie was off, thats another one I nearly walked out of.

So I walked out during pulse just a few weeks ago. I guess I am getting "old" cuz I felt way out of touch with all the characters...
Its not really a waste of money, just go catch another flick playing. We left pulse and went to the desent which was VERY scary, and I thought aboutr walking out cuz I'm fraidy cat, but we didn't since it was pretty good. Just Scary scary scary!!!!!

I thought The Hills Have Eyes was so lame... i wanted to walk out.. everyone was like im leaving its too scary.. i was like this isnt scary im walking out cos its lame! did anyone else think it was lame and not scary.. same goes with Hostel.. its more like sex here and sex there.. and oh wait quickly add in some gore..

To be fair, I think his big problems with that film lay in the writing and the accent rather than just his performance. I'm rapidly starting to think Silent Hill is just not possible to adapt in any recognisable form. It's too dense, too bleak and too weird to work. That said, in my fantasy wonderland - you know, where Canada rules the world under the benevolent dictatorship of Emily Haines and people consult me about movie adaptations - I think I would have just done a straightforward adaptation of Silent Hill 2. The story stands alone and we don't have to endure Cybil's horrible haircut. Everybody wins.

A couple of friends of mine walked out of Hostel, so naturally out of sheer spite, I had to watch that to the end. I feel I won a moral victory over my friends, even if I did want to visit horrible vengeance on Eli Roth afterwards. I was less alarmed by the gore than by how much I realised I hated him by the end of it.
Be warned America, Europe wants to eat you! We have languages and old buildings and international rail systems! We're intolerant of vegetarians and probably all a bit gay! Fear us!
The biggest single walkout I ever saw during Hard Candy, when about a dozen or so gentlemen took their leave during exactly the scene you're thinking of. It was very dramatic.
I've never played the Silent Hill game so i'll take your word on that one.
And I know exactly the scene you are thinking of! When I went to see it no one walked out. Then again there wasn't many people in there, I was a fan of Patrick Wilson from when he did Phantom so I wanted to see him do some real acting.
A good twist on that type of storyline though, I enjoyed it as much as you can say you enjoyed a film of that nature.

I haven't walked out on a movie I've paid to see in a theatre...but that doesn't happen very often. I have turned off movies I have rented or that someone has brought in to work for us to watch on our breaks (one of our guys gets all the new releases...not sure where, so don't ask!🙂). The one that stands out for making me leave the room was House Of 1000 Corpses...what a waste of $0.39 for a disk to burn it on to...stupid doesn't even begin to describe this movie...ick...

In fact a couple days later when I was at a friends, one of my friends started talking about it and I felt ill again. I think the problem with these films (and Wolf Creek and Saw 2) were they were far too real. It wasnt some random stupid serial killer.

I'm always at the pics and I've never once walked out. I find that if I'm paying good money to watch a film I'm gonna stay and see how it ends.
I did, however, fall asleep during Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. But that was because I was suffering from jet lag and Superman Returns, the third time I'd watched it because we went the 11pm showing and I was so tired 🙂

i thought hostel was lame.. THOUGH.. the eye scene put me off mustard forever.. lol... and yeah.. gross.. well wolf creek didnt scare me but it does disturb me the fact that its real.. i live in australia and the fact it happens here.. gulp... we actually watched a documentary/story in Law on Ivan Milat that was more scary because they had his brother on there who the police thinks were apart of the murders.... and he made his ex girlfriend (girlfriend at the time) wear a jacket that belonged to one of the victims he had killed and gave it to her and made her wear it as he liked bringing back memories of the killing.. thats soo scary.. and... screwed

Makes sense to me. He's a giant carnivorous lizard capable of speech who spends his days leering at a bunch of creepy cult children, children who freely admit to having regular mass hallucination events. Nobody questions this, nor does anybody question why these children keep disappearing and being replaced without any of the others ever commenting on their friend's sudden absence.
Bear in the Big Blue House on the other hand, he's alright.
My best friends (married couple) coerced the hubby and I into spending 40 bucks to see it in the theatre *hangs head in shame*
In university, my roomies and I went and saw Mad Love with Drew Barrymore and Chris O'Donnell in the theatre (their choice). We gave it 20 mins and walked out.
Seems to me I should stop letting other people pick my movies for me 😀
I have never actually walked out on a move, but me and my friend really wanted to while watching ultra violet, the only thing that stopped us was the fact we'd already payed lol

With my brother (5 at the time) and my mother... we walked out on Jurassic Park.. how silly was my father to tell us to go see that movie given my and brother's age.... we walked out at the part where the kids are stuck in the car... my brother was literally hiding his head in the seat.. lol

When I was a kid, I absolutely loved Jurassic Park, I must have watched it a gajillion times. But I was absolutely terrified of that bit with the kids in the kitchen hiding from the Raptors. Not sure why it freaked me out so much, but to this day I don't think I've seen that whole scene.

That reminds me of when I was about five.. I was absolutely scared silly of the Ghostbusters theme... My brother put on the song and locked me in the room..B*****d.. He thinks I've forgotten!!
I was so scared of this song I put my back against the wall, wide eyed, I watched the record spin from the other end of the room, too scared to go closer to the music, waiting for the song to end. 🙁

I was sorely tempted to walk out of Black Dahlia, which was such an insanely bad film I felt oddly insulted on behalf of the real Elizabeth Short. Who wasn't an angel, who is well beyond the point of having people leaping to defend her honour, but she was a real person and she was really murdered, and the fact that it happened fifty years ago doesn't diminish the obligation to relate her life and death responsibly. I know every time any true story is adapted there'll be compromises and I've read the Ellroy book, but maybe the film just angered me because it is so damn bad.
Yeah, I thought it was an interesting idea, and I thought the reactions it stirred up were even more interesting. The publicity people were a bit off though - they did a campaign encouraging kids to "Wear Red", like Haley, to show their awareness of safe internet use. Clearly, they didn't see any of the film after the first ten minutes, or they might have noticed that Haley Stark is a total nutter with rudimentary surgical know-how and a gift for psychological torture. Which isn't an ideal role model...
