Have you walked out on a movie?

Walked out on American Beauty...at the time I just didn't get it, and I repulsed. Also fell asleep duing Van Helsing...but I was just exhausted.

One of the worst movies ever made is "Alone in the Dark." That movie was so horrible. If I would have saw that in theaters I would have walked out. The only part that was good about it is when it ended.

Only tangently on topic (that's the word right? My brain is sponge today. Remember kids - after the sixth hour of drinking, you've had enough) but...

Much like when people say they spat coffee on their keyboard, when they say there was a standing ovation during a particular scene in the cinema, they're probably lying.

The day before yesterday, I went to a special showing of the original Night of the Living Dead, and it was as brilliant as ever. Cinema really is the best way to see any film. The audience was made up of equal parts people who loved the film for a long time, and Gothy young'uns seeing it for the first time. Anyway - about a third in, Barbera and Ben are safely holed up in the house, when Barbara starts getting all womanly and hysterical and wants to go outside to the zombie menace for her (very dead) companion. Ben restrains her, she freaks out, and then slaps him.


Of course, this was made in the 1960's, so Ben responds by laying her out with an almighty wallop without even blinking.

Stunned silence in the cinema for a half second, and then raucous applause and cheers and yes indeed, standing ovation. Too right, Barbara was an idiot. Think about how many stupid horror scenes could be avoided with more such punches - stupid characters who want to go back for the dog, stupid characters who want to go outside, stupid characters who don't believe in monsters. Just KO them. Problem solved. Everybody lives. Hurrah!

Well, I am widely noted for my strongly anti-feminist politics. You know, I find the time when I'm not busy gay bashing, engaging in sectarian violence or just generally making life hard for immigrants.

Like I said earlier, I've never walked out of a theatre, but I have just not been able to get thru some of the dreck I've rented. I just remembered one I couldn't get thru...The Firm...45 minutes of complete and utter boredom before I turned it off. Oh, yeah, and The Pelican Brief...John Grisham just doesn't do it for me, either in print or on film, it would seem.

Don't know if anyone posted this one I heart Huckabees. Didn't know that many stars in a movie could all suck at the same time.

Never saw Ishtar or Heaven's Gate (not much of a Beatty fan) and Battlefield Earth was just to frickn' hilarious to turn off.

I hate to not finish a movie that I start.. But me and Joamna actually didn't finish watching Pulse (which we obviously wanted to see just 'cause of Kristen Bell), but we might some other time.. it was just.. not so good.. err..

I also almost didn't finish RENT. I know lots of people love this movie – and I'm usually a fan of musicals however silly they might be – but this just wasn't good imo...
