Have you read any poems by Emily Dickinson???If yes, do you like them???She's my favourite poet....
 
She was one of my favorite poets back in high school. She beat Edgar Allen Poe any day. I've forgotton some of her poems by now, but I remember them being really good. Kind of depressing, but still really good. 😀
 
i have her collected poems.. i like some of them.. but she's not my fave, she is great but not my fave! i'm dorothy parkers girl! have been for 8years now😉 the initials DP are written on my heart LOL

have you ever heard of Dorothy P? if you want i can pm some to you😉

my fave by Emily d is the storm ans one where she opens with"this is my letter to the world, that never wrote to me...", and one that talkes about a father:
Father i bring thee not myself,-
that were the little load;
i bring thee the imperial heart
i had no strength to hold.

the heart i cherished in my own
till mine too heavy grew
yet strangest, heavier since it went
is it too large for you?


and i like:

heart we wil forget him!
you and i, to-night!
you may forget the warmth he gave
i will forget the light

when you have done, prey tell me
that i my thought may dim
haste! lest while you're lagging
i may remember him

if it's the depressing parts you like you should check out my girl dottie, cos man she is great, and no matter how light her poems may seem, she aways ends a poem with a bitterness...

I know that in "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date" there's alot of refference to Emily Dickinson.

I don't personally care for her that much. I prefer T.S. Elliot and Alfred Lord Tennyson (My favorite).

I never read poetry untill we had to last year, with Dutch Literature, there were very little good ones. I wanna get into reading more english literature, but times an issue, so when I finish readin' all of Shakespeare's play, I'll do poetry perhaps.
 
I love Emily Dickinson! Her poems are so morbid and yet so beautiful! You really feel the pain she was in for most of her life.
 
im sure that the french poet "baudelaire" would kick her ass at being dark and depressing lol

i dunno if theres been any translation of his work but.. yeah : DARK lol

yeah ladykaos28 that was a dark poem..
I havn't read much Emily Dickenson, i'd like too though, just don't have time and we havn't really read any in class
