Really like the friendship that's developing between those two.

Plus Amy Acker and Marsters play well off of one another, like Druscilla the nickname "pet" fits her. Having him sacrifice his only shot to become corporeal to save Fred was really sweet.



Am I the only one who found Pavayne to be quite annoying?
 
Fred and Spike have some good moments, but I've always found this episode pretty boring. It's obvious Spike isn't going to get sucked into hell seeing as he's only just become a regular on Angel, and most of the episode just involves him walking around by himself. And the attempts to be creepy don't really work for me in this one.

I find it really, really scary!
Spike and Illyria definitely work better than Spike and Fred...although they are kind of cute.

From a women's perspective, seeing Spike naked briefly was quite nice.


But I agree, Pavayne and his undead minions did nothing for me either.
 
I liked Pavayne. He gave me the creeps.


I think the episode is creepy. I always hide when the finger scene comes up. The way it sounds and looks. .EW

Fred and Spike make a great team, but Spike treats Fred like a little girl at some points. And I don't think Pet suits her. It's too weird
 
hell bound is hell of an episode!Really that was creepy!I also like the friendship between Fred and Spike...the fact that Fred wants to save Spike because she knows it's the right thing...i also loved the dialogue between Angel and Spike..." i liked your poems!" hahahaha!!! and radioactive hair?:lmao:
 
I don't know, I honestly did find this episode frightening. But, of course, I am kind of lame. 😉 And. as Sunnydale Siren mentioned, seeing Spike naked doesn't hurt, either 😉

In fact, 'Hellbound' is one of my favorite episodes of the season.

I too found Fred's concern for Spike's condition touching. She believed he was worth saving when no one else seemed to care. Fred was such a pure, authentic, and nice person. Too bad she died. I would have loved to see the two explore a deeper friendship.

Spike nicknames everyone he loves and cares about. I think its sweet.
 
Great episode. The silent hillish finger chopping scene is the only genuinely creepy disturbing bit in the whole show to me.
I found it interesting that Pavillion was just a psycho trying to keep himself from hell, and when he's locked in the cell at the end would be the worst kind of hell.

Also kinda lame that Spike was going to hell. Souled William and Spike were pretty decent people, not deserving of hell. Implying if Spike dies he'll go to hell kinda takes away from the whole 'A vampire is a demon possessing a human body' thing.

Man, now I'm in love with Fred/Spike. I think I like her with almost anyone 😛
Except Angel or Gunn. lol

I'm really liking Season 5 so far, really glad Spike's in it.

Spikes a great addition to s5. He only gets better.
I wrote a mini analysis on this on the idw forums:

Right I had this all planned out in my head earlier but I've forgotten most of it.

Firstly what's interesting is that Angel tries to do an unconscious 'Angelus' to Spike by passing on his own dispair. Now it seems that Spike buys into this. Now near the end something interesting happens. Pavayne forces Spike to make a choice and he takes a moment to consider. Pavayne sees this and says there is hope for him yet and Spike says says "Not really" I found this either misleading or quite spot on. If Spike means there is no hope for him as person then he's dead wrong. Spike has enogh faith in himself to fight against Pavayne. If he means that there is no hope that he will turn out like Pavayne then he's right.

Obvious parallels: Spike is straddling hell in the literal sense but he's able to fight against it. Angel's damnation is more figurative and more dangerous because unlike Spike's he's accepting it and not fighting against it.

There are probably other interesting elements to this ep but I can't remember them.
