I've seen this story in several places today, which may be of interest to any Potentials in our midst -

Vampire Seeks Job as Minnesota Governor

MINNEAPOLIS (Jan. 13) - Minnesota voters, who eight years ago elected a former professional wrestler as their governor, may find a self-proclaimed vampire on the ballot for the office this year.

"Politics is a cut-throat business," said Jonathon "The Impaler" Sharkey, who said he plans to announce his bid for governor Friday on the ticket of the Vampyres, Witches and Pagans Party.

I was so gobsmacked I still can't think of any smart-arse comments about "those crazy Yanks" 😉 Still we've had our fair share of mad election candidates in the UK - Screaming Lord Sutch, Ian Paisley and Margaret Thatcher spring to mind 😉 - so that would be the pot calling the kettle black, wouldn't it? 🙂

Well, they also say that truth is stranger than fiction, i guess.

We have a bunch of brainless zombies running both the UK and the US at the moment so why not put a vampire into power too! 😀

Why would an self proclaimed vampire call himself the Impaler? Doesn't make sense to me. The Terrible, The Bloody, The ....something would work, but the impaler. Somehow that's almost as bad as naming your album "The rise and fall of...".

Terminator in California, why not a vampire in Minneapolis?

Al has a point...isn't that what most vampires try to be...Dracula? or at least imulate him in some way.
and, BTW, i think this is great! it def made me lmao when i read in the paper!!

Yes that bit I do get, but still I question the logic behind it. I'm guessing it's got something to do with his quality to enthrall people or something like that, but nick-naming himself with the thing that will lead to his death!? Don't know if that's a grand move.

I don't understand the reason people have given me negative rep for my point.......Did Bush or did he not lose his first election, BUT due to Rupert Murdoch's network, win....yes he did.



As for the 'Impaler' issue.
In the Vampiric world(in our real one) the 'Vampire' is given a legacy, a vampire lineage by the person who 'turns' them....in this case the man has probably been placed in the Dracula line, so he wouldn't have much choice over his 'ancestors'. He will have decided that if he wants to be a politician, and remain faithful to his lifestyle coice, then he is proudly showing his connection with the most famous person in his line......and lets face it, if you are gonna vote for any Vampire, your gonna vote for the one with Vampiric Nobility in its blood arent you!!

As I've explained before.....our President is elected by 'popular' vote. Hence, more than half the country voted FOR him.
Actually Princess Zombie, George W Bush didn't legally win the first election.
He lost it by a small Margin, but thanx to Fox News Network proclaiming different, George was placed as President.
George Bush Jr was illegally elected.
I don't know who has brain washed you into thinking he was elected into office, but they have done a good job.
 
He may have lost the popluar vote, but he won the electoral votes, which is what really matters. He's not the first president that's lost the popular vote to have won the election.

Just about every American network projected Gore had won Florida. Then Bush. Both announcements were retracted. Then it was in limbo with the courts. Rather was apologizing, Brokaw, Jennings...the entire newsmedia was looking foolish. They were relying on early exit polls and it was too close to do that...both left-leaning and right-leaning folks in other states were upset cos they didn't vote, the Nets had said it was over, when it wasn't.


On election night, it quickly became clear that Florida would be a contentious state. The national television networks, through information provided them by the Voter News Service, first called Florida for Gore in the hour after polls closed in the eastern peninsula but before they closed in the heavily Republican counties of the western panhandle. (The peninsula is on Eastern Time and the panhandle is on Central Time.) Hours later, after the polls had closed in the panhandle, the networks retracted their call for Gore (leading to questions about the influence of biased national news media in the election process), then called the state for Bush, then retracted that call as well. The Voter News Service was an organization backed and supported by television networks and the Associated Press to help determine the results of presidential elections as early as possible, through early result tallies and exit polling.
