After avoiding Buffy during it's initial run (for some reason, don't ask me why!) I've recently acquired the full seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. My horror hound friends told me how good it actually was and I've been spotting the show several times on "top horror series ever!!" lists. So I figured I will give this a go! 🙂

Looking forward to hanging around here as a complete newbie and learning stuff. You'll probably see me most "spamming" up the Episode discussion sub forums if/when I have something interesting to say/vent about the episodes. So, again, Hi! 🙂

This will be the first time I watch them at all! But I'm sure it will be a blast yes 🙂

I've been told the first season is a bit slow...But I'll wait and save that for my own judgment 🙂

You'll see the first season is fantastic, I didn't find it slow at all. Actually, for stand alone episodes, it's one of the best season, and it's one of the funniest!

Agreed. 🙂

S1 gets some unfair criticism. It's funny, with some really great scenes/character moments. All it lacks is a strong overall arc.

If you're watching for the first time I really envy you!

I guess "slow" was the wrong word, just that I've heard that the series really "finds it foot" in the second season - looking forward to it regardless!

Must say I never thought of Buffy as horror, though I suppose some do. I once heard a friends kid got really scared watching Hocus Pocus.

Puppet Show? (puppet...creepy)

Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind? (Insane Invible woman- 'I'm gonna carve up your face, Cordy!')

You could accurately describe Buffy as teen horror in its first season, it has enough scary moments, but I'll agree it's tough to mix horror with superpowers- it can be done though. 🙂

Honorable mentions later on go to; 'The Dark Age', 'Killed By Death', 'Helpless', 'Hush', 'CWDP', There's quite a few scary moments on the show. (or at least meant to be scary...like the end of 'Smashed' 😛)

If you want to think it is horror, go for it. I don't. The most it would get in my book is a bit creepy.
