Hello, friends!

Ohhh what’s the question? Also, welcome! ❤️
My question was "Why did Willow choose to go to UC Sunnydale instead of one of the 687767865 other offers she had for bigger, better schools?" I'm currently on S3.E14 (Bad Girls) with her pile of early admissions packets from places like Harvard and Yale, and I was struck by how incongruous it seems to have early acceptance from Ivy Leagues and then decide to go to the in-town state college just to stay with your friends.

Welcome 🙂 looking forward to reading your threads and posts.

I wonder if Willows magic addiction can be blamed for skipping the good schools too? Did she prefer the promise of magic to the promise of money?

Welcome to the group! I found this site the same way, by Googling a Buffy question. I think you know the answer to yours: so Willow could stay on the show. The real question is, why do shows always set up for characters to go to far-flung colleges when they know they will keep them local in the end?

Who are your favorite characters so far?

Welcome to the forum! I am sure you will find this place to be more intelligent and civil than most fan forums.

The show was trying to indicate that the characters in it are intelligent (except Xander, who they decided should not be university material). Even Cordelia gets offers from a variety of prestigious universities. The purpose of Willow going to UC Sunnydale is to maintain the connections between the core four and eliminate the need for scenes being shot at far-flung universities to keep the production cost down. It also shows that the bonds from high school were not broken the way they usually are once you go to university.

Hey, I think she decided she'd rather be with Buffy than go to a higher esteamed school. And with Willow, she already enjoys learning, so going to uni with her best friend is probably the best option for her. Just my opinion.
Oh and, welcone to the site 🤟
