Hey everyone,

I'm new (duh), so I thought I'd say hello. I'm a girl (hence the girly name), 24 years of age and a huge Buffy geek (I used to call myself a Buffy nerd but someone recently kindly explained the difference). I've been a fan ever since the shows aired (I tuned in when they were showing season 4) but I only rediscovered my passion for it this year when my flatmate suddenly insisted that we watch all seasons in chronological order.

If you have any questions, fire away 🙂

Cheers, mayfever

Hi mayfever! :welcome: to the boards. Glad your love for the show came back. Hope to see you around a lot.

Hi hun 🙂

Great to see a new yet familiar face here! The more BA/Irish lit gushing the better 😉

:welcome:

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! And Kean, how great to find you here. B/A gushing FTW 🙂 Is anyone else from the BR gang active here?

As far as I understood it, the difference between a geek and a nerd is that while both have an unusual amount of knowledge about a certain topic, the geek manages to maintain an active social life, while the nerd tends to be socially awkward and reclusive. Does that make sense?

Welcome to the Boards! I'm sure you'll love it here. I recently got told the difference between a geek and a nerd. To me geek sounds 'nerdier' than nerd. Ya know? It's weird. anyways, I'm Savannah and...welcome.

There's a few of us here all right 🙂 I'm sure you'll see them pop up 🙂

Out of curiosity, how did you find BB?

Um, good question actually. I think I must have read the name on someone's LJ and yesterday I just googled it randomly...

So Willow is a geek but Andrew is a Nerd?

I guess; at least that's how I understood it. I googled it again just now and apparently a lot of people wouldn't agree. How very fascinating from a linguist's point of view 🙂

@BananaBuffy love your signature! My favourite Spike line ever!

Huh, I've always thought that the Geek is more "Weird" than the Nerd, and more into some random (usually) sci-fi thing, whereas the Nerd is someone who's extremely invested in and passionate about (usually academic) knowledge and intellect.

And then, of course, you have to add "Dork" in to the comparison... Huh lol, just looked up some opinions, and dork seemingly equates to being socially inept, geek to being obsessed, and nerd to being intelligent (probably more intelligence-centered than need be!)

I identify with Nerd, personally. But any who! Now that I've rambled on longer than need be... Hi, welcome to BB! 🙂 If you need some help around BB, try Adoption.

Exactly. Plus if i like the sound of 'geek' better than 'nerd' i have to know whether to appear more inept or more obsessed. 😉
