Help BB Write Her Thesis Thread

Hey, guys! As many of you know, I'm in the middle of working on my Master's thesis, of which Buffy is a fairly major part. My idea for some cosmetic stuff is to have a Buffy quote for the headers of each section, and I could use a few more brains helping me with this.

So far, my headers include "Anti-Fantasy Critics," "Pro-Fantasy Critics," "Real World Opinions" (in which I explore the results of my survey), "Why Not Fantasy?" (why aren't we using Fantasy in classrooms), "Why Fantasy" (why and how should we), and "Why Buffy" (why would we use Buffy as a teaching tool). All I've been able to come up with is the one for "Anti-Fantasy Critics," for which I've used "Guys? Reality?" I'm definitely open to better ones though.

Any ideas?

The first quotes that came to my mind for the anti and pro-fantasy headings were the funny quotes from when Spike threatens to tear the head off the nerds' Star Wars doll.

Anti-Fantasy Critics:
"Mister Fett here is the first to die."

Pro-Fantasy Critics:
Either "That's a limited edition, 1979 mint condition Boba Fett!"
or "You don't wanna hurt the Fett ('cause man, you're *not* comin' back from that)."

For ' Why would we use Buffy as a teaching tool' I'd ask a question in the heading,
'Why not Buffy'. Thereby putting the onus on any detractors.
For the 'Why aren't we using Fantasy in classrooms' , in an effort to get all onside with you and, as the lead role is one of the sexes how about, 'Sexual Fantasy in Class'.

All I can think of is a potential one for the 'Real World Opinions'.

Hm. I'm feeling that I may need to be a little more specific about what I'm going for. Let me give you all some examples from Buffy and Philosophy; some chapter titles are as follows:
Faith and Plato: "You're Nothing! Disgusting, Murderous Bitch!"
"My God, it's Like a Greek Tragedy": Willow Rosenberg and Human Irrationality
"You're Really Enjoing this Whole Moral Superiority Thing, Aren't You?": Buffy and Ethics
"Don't Speak Latin in Front of the Books": Knowledge, Rationality and Science in the Buffyverse

I hope that helps the helpful thinking.

I've come up with two; yay me! Here they are:

"Magic is All Balderdash and Chicanery": Anti-Fantasy Critics
"The Anti-Hell-Sucking Book Isn't on the Approved Reading List": The Exclusion of Fantasy from Classrooms

not sure if this would work, as its kind of different from what you have up there, but i always thought it could make a good intro to something buffy-related, and you never know 🙂:

Pro Fantasy Critics....Of course demons are real, I got it straight from Hells-mouth.
or you could change are for aren't if your that way inclined.
This one could be awkward for me, as I know the supernatural exists.

Don't know whether it's useable but it's the best I could think of at this hour, haha.

For Chapter 3, I have three major sections, one for each type of Literary Criticism I'm working with: Psychoanalytic (Freud), Archetypal (Jung/Campbell), and Cultural Studies. There's two quotes I'm thinking of for Freud; either "You're Having Parental Issues!" or "I've Got Your Number, Id Boy!" Other than that, I haven't thought about it much.

As for the psychoanalitic thing, I always liked the words by the group, The Moody Blues ;

I too like the ID boy one better.... totally ties beautifully with Freud better in my mind.

Yay! First draft of the entire thesis is now complete (except for an introduction and conclusion, which should take me maybe a few hours). Each chapter has an opening quote and a smaller quote for each header. Here they are, in case anyone is interested:
