Help me choose a uni course!!!!!

Well I should prolly send my UCAS application in a month or 2..but having a tiny problem..Not sure what I would like to study..So thought you here could help me 🙂 I'm basically torn between Law,Psychology, Law with Psychology or some variations combined with either of the 2 courses like American Studies,Criminology,Sociology,European Law etc etc

Well do you have any ideas?? Or any ways to make up my mind??

Thats a huge decision that I wouldn't be comfortable advising you in.

But I think it will come to you soon what you really want to do with your life.

I was thinking about this the other day and I thought, "Maybe I should just remain undecided for the first year or even the second year"

Because where I am planning on attending, you have to fill out your requirements in the first two years of study and then move on to your major for the latter two years.

Slayer, The, the UK system is different, you pick a course (or a combination of two, mabbe three) and thats it. You can change after the first year but you have to start all over again.

Anyway if Law and Pysch are your unknowns do a combi degree, as you don't choose major/minors until the 2nd year. Plus say you like both of them but prefer the Law you can do say 10 units in Law and 2 in Pysch at some places.

Best advice I can give you isto remain undecided, or at leaast flexible, until you're sure (or sophmore/junior year when they make you pick a major). Until then, take things that seem to point where you want to go, but also things you think would just be interesting. You might be suprised and end up as something you never expected, having a wonderful life, if you just keep an open mind. I mean, seventy percent or so of students who go into a university with one major graduate with another. You haven't seen everything UCAS has to offer you yet.

I picked Psychology but I don't really know what any of the courses consist of other than law. So that wasn't based of anything just so you know. Good luck with whatever you pick.

well, criminology is really interesting(i'm taking my BA in it.) But be ready for things that might not be normal points of view(that is things you hear everyday.. it might be the oposite of what is a normal to get from newspapers and so on.. at least here in Norway.) But if you get into it, or/and get what they say, it can be a very good study... and fun and interesting 🙂 and it can be good to put in the mix if you have both law and pchy in a mix.... acually it's good in alot of places.. to the things you mentioned... a girl i know who is finishing her BA in psych this spirng has 4 criminology classes in her BA.... 🙂

well, psych and law are intersesting directions, from your choices i can see why it's hard to pick! 🙂 Good Luck!!!

here in norway we have 3 classes every semester.. so 6 classes a year(unless you have one that is 20points... then you have 2 classes a sem.) you sign up for a direction, lik law or psych and then you have some MUST haves classes and then you can choose the rest, building your own competance. what way you wanna go.)

I said law...just cause that's what I'm intersted in...lol...btu teh good thing with law is you can go study to be a medical malpractice lawyer...do that for two years...get bored, turn around and decide to be a criminal attorney or a divorce attorney...

I'm soo undecided..I mean even if I do law I can't be an attorney coz I'll never have enough fluency in English to go into courtroom..dunno..a few months ago I was soo sure I wanted to do law and now thinking bout psychology,but I'm worried it might be too hard for me

I picked Law, i do that at as/a level and it's good.. you go into a lot of detail.. and we recently went to the courts.. i also do psychology aswel.. and that's good too.. it aint too hard.. if i can do it.. im sure anyone else can.. but it's up to you really..

Well, I do Psychology and Sociology. I think you would really enjoy Psychology but it's still a very big choice to make. I can only tell you that Psychology is a very good subject.

I did law, and did options in psychology, and we covered criminology in my law degree. It was my favourite part. I never thought I would be smart enough to get in, let alone graduate with a law degree. Its true what they say, if you want something and work hard for it you will get it.

lol now i'm going on to do a social work degree so I can work with victims of crime.

I don't know about in other countries, but in America, psychology isn't really a useful degree as you have to get a doctorate in order to have any kind of practice.

I mean you could probably teach psych. or even become a counselor or something, but nothing too well-paying.

I think you need a doctorate over here too but you can become a researcher or teach. Researchers get paid pretty well I think.

Just remember that if you want to study, I mean really study and have lectures and seminars and tutorials like all of the time, then you should pic law or medicine (but I guess you weren't interested in that).

About the english part don't worry. It's a bit tricky in the beginning but you get used to it quite quickly.

For how long are you going to study? An entire degree or just the random courses?
