HEY everyone i am Buffybot38 and i know that this has probebly asked on here loads of times but

I have currently finshed a script for a spin-off series of buffy and i am wondering if i need to get approval from Joss Whedon it is because it involves elements from the original series. I am gonna send it off to the BBC but i need help first with knowing about approval

If anyone wants to know what it is about please let me know and i will post it on here

Please respond to me because i really need help for this

Being absolutely honest, I would save the stamp.

First of all, Joss would need to be consulted BUT he would never sanction a spin-off he wasn't involved with.

Secondly, the BBC don't read scripts sent to them.

Your best bet would be to remove ANY thing that is 'borrowed' from another show, make it is own story.
Send it to Agents, maybe some lower down actors and producers and forget about it.

If you have talent, you should go to workshops and they will nurture it.

If you are talented, you will succeed.

I don't really know how that sort of thing works. I would be sure to say something like the following: "I am not assoicated with Joss Whedon and Co. and this for fun not for profit, these characters are the property of Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy Productions, etc..." or something to that effect.

I'm actually going through something sort of similar myself. I'm writing a play and I use a couple references from Buffy in it. I want to submit it to a few theatres for consiteration for produciton, but I don't know that the rules are when using copyright material.

Does anyone know where we can find this information?

What do you mean references?

You are totally free to mention it, but you can't use characters from it without approval.

Is it possible to use villans from buffy history because i have wrriten in the first and i am also useing hellmouths would i need approval for that sort of stuff

No, they are creations of Joss.

You can use them if you make them different or source other information, like legends and such, but you can't have the Buffyverse versions.
