Help Needed

To all you creative types:

For my english gcse we have to submit a creative writing piece, the theme being a twisted or mordenized fairy.

My interpretation was a Buffy version of the three little pigs with Angelus as the big bad wolf and willow, xander and buffy as the three little pigs. I thought the not being able to come in unless invited was a nice tie in with the pigs not letting the wolf in and at the end of the story as angelus is saying my rewritten version of the lines 'then i'll snarl, then i'll growl and i'll push your house down' Buffy comes out and stakes him ( sorry bangels ) 😛

However when I presented a draft to my english teacher my work was rejected for apparently being ridiculous and dated.

So i am left with the need for a new idea and I'm really really stuck. Having read lots of fanfics I know many of you are amazingly creative and was wondering if anyone had any alternative ideas as I am now in a post rejection funk.

Um, tell your professor that Shakespeare, Hemingway, and Fitzgerald are also dated so they should not be studied.

Pft. I'm not sure how it can be seen as dated?! Maybe you should try making it a little bit more violent somehow? I don't really understand what your teacher is looking for here.

I mean BtVS explored the theme of fairy tales quite a few times, most notably in Gingerbread. Is his issue mostly with BtVS?

I think by modernized fairy tale they mean take a fairy tale and update it; the premise you used was basically the same fairy tale with different settings. I think they were maybe talking something like the movie Freeway, with Keifer Sutherland which is a modernized version of Little Red Riding Hood.

I think her main issue is the overuse of vampires in the current media n stuff
Also she originaly said established characters are okay but she failed to mention they had originate from literature

Thanks for the support everyone but unfortunately im not quite sure how i can fight my teacher without her then giving me a failing grade
