What the??? :faintthud Is ... wha... whoa... Someone call a therapist!!!

Dani, you need to go talk to someone...someone who's not biased for or against you...like a counselor at school, or your family doctor. I'd prefer the doctor. They cannot tell anyone else, if that's what you are worried about, unless you tell them they can. Go see your doctor, and tell him/her, please. Recognizing that this is a problem is the first step in getting help. Any addiction is the same way, and this has some things in common with addiction, so do it. Soon. Please.

thanks for the advice.
Dani, I agree with KD, it's very important that you get help.

It's good to see you've identified the problem and felt comfortable enough to come to us with it.

Unfortunately, none of us, I think, are licensed professionals...

No, we're not. We're good, but we're not formally trained, so Dani, please talk to someone who is a professional!!

You're right, we're not. Listen to this girl.

Like Cordy and KD said - you must seek some qualified help. I think your GP would be best or a counsellor or teacher you trust at school. I don't know a lot about cutting, other than it exists (and I only got that from reading the thread on here), but it sounds pretty risky to me.

Good advice Points.

I'm a cutter myself, and if you really want to- need to stop- put away the box cutter. Or knives. Or whatever you use. I guess that's just my ego talking, saying I could stop whenever I want but- oh, what the hell. You should talk to a doctor, a trusted friend of yours or a counselor.

And although that should be good advice, if that's not enough (my psychiatrist isn't), then you should really look inside yourself, see what's causing the problem and why hurting yourself is so addictive.

That might have made *no sense* whatsoever, but... yeah.

Good luck!

You made perfect sense hun. After all who better to give advice than someone who's been through the same ordeal. I hope you have taken your own advice.

You made sense, for sure. And coming from someone who's been there is even more compelling...thanks, and take care, TH!

Ok - Dani, hun. These people have said some very very important things which I'm only going to reinforce. There must be something inside you that is making you feel the need to cut yourself. Neither myself, nor anyone here is really qualified to help you figure out the cause. That's why you have to go and see someone. Someone professional that knows what they are talking about. They will always treat you with the strictest confidentiality. Please go and see your doctor. In the meantime hun, we are all here for you if you feel you want to talk to any of us. I'm always on the end of a PM, and so are a lot of these nice people who have replied to your thread. Please bear that in mind.

I want you to know that we are all here for you and just want what's best for you.

Take care.

*hugs*

i luv net ~hugs~

don't cut to deep...or you might miss out...on the love of your life...the one that makes this falkin insanity worth while...

maybe you should start drinking or running or something self-mutilating that won't kill you on the spot..like smoking...yes smoking...i advocate smoking...

fo reals...go ask for help...not on the net...but someone face to face...like my man kd said...nothing wrong with asking for help...

God Dani it's great that you're able to talk about this. Or at least ask for help, or tell us you're in need of help. I don't have much to say since many posters have already said it a lot better than I ever could.. But you know you should talk to someone and please tell us what you decide to do and if you feel like it's possible talking to someone in real life about this.. Not just the cutting of course but why and what you feel and so on.. too many people cut themselves and it's.. sad and I wish things could be a lot better for you and.. I hope they will be..

I don't really know what to tell you other than what everyone else has already said. My friend was going through this not to long ago, and I tried to help as much as I could by being there for her and just listening. So if you need an ear mine's available, as is everyone elses i'm sure. Heres a site on some things that might help out a little. I hope your doing better soon.

it's really great that you aren't keeping this a secret and that you are looking to stop. i would definitely recomend the site that Willow02 posted. i looked over it a little and they ideas seemed very helpful, especially the "practice violence" thing. take your anger out on something else that won't hurt you or anyone else. i would also advise going to see a doctor and/or psychiatrist. you should definitely talk with your family if you haven't already done that...

I'm very bad in these situations, but I thought I'd chime in. You defenitly need to talk to someone. I know that much, and everybody gave good advice, that I can't really add to.
But, I wanted to say, I hope you feel better soon and get this taken care of.
You can always count on kd for good advice and every BB-er is willing to help. 🙂
If you need ANYTHING, pm me!

Thanks for the advice everyone.
I finally told my friend.. well she actually saw the marks and asked, and it all came out and we had a big talk. Now the hard part will be trying to tell my parents and asking them to help.
Thanks again.🙂

Yeah, that's great Danio, I hope you'll have the courage/strength to tell and and deal with this.. and feel better.
Good you talked about it. I had written a whole post about what you said but I was cut down & never could post it, lol, anyway, never mind now, I'm glad you've talked about it. Good luck for the rest !

thanks :)
I'm so pleased that you managed to talk to someone. Now don't you let it slide young lady. Keep on talking. If you're worried about talking to your folks, don't forget that your GP has to keep things just between you. I would hope that anyone's parents would be sympathetic and helpful in these kind of circumstances tho'. I'm sure I would.

i agree with elmo. it takes lots of guts to come out and talk about it. i'm happy to hear that you told someone. and don't worry about telling your parents. they'll help you through this.
