When Spike comes home searching for Dawn at the begining of S6, and Dawn has just found Buffy, Spike says something I'm not too sure of...

Buffy walks down the stairs, and Spike stares in disbelief. He looks at her bloodied hands and says, "Her hands..." Dawn continues to explain that she doesn't know how they got that way. Spike then replies, "I do. Had to dig your way out of your coffin, didn't you?" {or something to that matter.} Buffy nods, and Spike says, "Had to do it myself."

But from the episode we've seen with Spike and Dru when she first sired him, she didn't leave his body to be found by his family, right? I mean, he went home with her and killed his mother, as we see in a S7 episode, a flashback. So, how could he have known what it was like to crawl through a coffin?

At first, I thought maybe someone found him later on, after he left London, and since, helllooo no pulse, they buried him. But he's a vampire. He would eat them before they got a chance to bury them.

This has actually occured to me before. In the season 5 Angel episode "A Girl In Question" it seems Dru brings him home in a few hours later after sireing him. When was there time to dig yourself of a coffin? When the hell where you buried and how did you get a coffin so quickly?

Also, his mother said he'd been missing all night so it seemed no body had found him dead!

I'd guess that Drusilla probably buried him herself.

She was a sucker for the classics, that was why she went to the trouble of burying Darla in Reunion after all.

Seems likely to me that she could have buried Spike for the same reasons.

I was gonna say that but when she buried Darla she didn't do it in a coffin, she just buried her in the soil!

True enough, but with Wolfram and Hart wanting to keep things quiet so that Angel didn't track them down too easily she may have been forced to compromise.

Ultimately though i do think she buried Spike one way or another. He said in Not Fade Away that he had never had a "proper" funeral, which suggest that he was given some sort of burial at least.

I was also wondering about this! But reading all your posts, I agree that either way Spike was buried. Dru must have done it herself. It's the only reasonable explanation, as even though Spike was in shock when he saw Buffy again, I think he was 'there' enough to realize the things he said. I mean, I don't think he would have just blurted it out or whatever.
So yea Dru must have just buried him, and they didn't exactly explain it, but I guess they just wanted us to kind of guess what happened.

Yes, but how would his hands be badly wounded digging through dirt? He said "claw your way out of your coffin"...

And anyways, who said this actually happened? The "Continuity Guy" must've been fired...alot of time things like this happen in BtVS...I dunno...Dru is just crazy enough for me to not think twice about her burying him herself. :happy53:

Don't get me wrong Silve, as far as i'm concerned in reality this was a total continuity error on the part of the writers. No doubt about that.

However, as i'm sure you know, many continuity errors can be explained away with a little imagination on behalf of the fans! :happy53:

In this case there is nothing to suggest that Dru didn't take Spike's dead body from the alley, find a suitably large wooden box, drop him in and bury it, just to give him the vampire birth she thought he deserved. Certainly that theory would fit in with everything we know about that night from what has been seen and said.

Well she wanted to bury her in the earth but so they can see stars, however being LA wasn't easy.
