I was going to rewatch this show, Is it worthwhile? lol I watched the first two episodes, the fighting looks...funny. Does it get amazing? I can't remember too much of it. Anyone who loved this show or liked it, or has seen it, please let me know!! Ty!

This is the Hercules series that used to tie in with Xena right? In which case....I loved this show! I used to be pretty much addicted to it. It made you laugh whilst having kick ass storylines. Plus I loved all the Gods in it (I've always been into Ancient Grecian, Roman and Egyptian gods and goddesses, things like that). The important thing is to remember not to take it seriously. The fights are not meant to be fantastic and awe-inspiring or even overly realistic. The entire show is done extremely tongue-in-cheek and if you can remember and appreciate that, you will adore this show. I swear. Hehe.

I think one of my favorite episodes was where they did a parody of the Baz Luhrman film, Strictly Ballroom. It was a classic.

And I used to love, character wise, Aphrodite. Actually she was a bit Cordeliaesque only more shallow and more powerful. haha

Thank you!!!
The show wasn't too bad, but it just never really grabbed me. Probably, I suppose, because Kevin Scorbo (?) just never seemed like Hercules. I was spoiled by Steve Reeves from my youth, who, granted, was as far from a great actor as anyone could be and still be in movies, but he had the physique that just WAS Hercules.

I can deal with Lemon Sorbet especially after seeing Arnie as Herc!!!!

Personally, I quite liked the show. I really liked the movies and was impressed they had Anthony Quinn in them.

I prefered the spin off, Xena, but you understand that more if you watched this.

I loved the Iolas character🙂

I have fond memories of watching this on a saturday night at 6pm on channel 5.

Good times!!!!

Ditto on the preferring Xena :)
I wouldn't have picked Kevin Sorbo for Hercules, either. And Arnie made the stupidest Conan possible (he didn't even LOOK like him).

That said, I haven't watched it much cause it was just too cheesy for me. And I adore musicals, so that should give you some idea of how cheesy I thought it was.

Thanks everyone 😀 I'm going to continue watching it! My favorite character was always Bruce Campbell's character 'Autolycus' The King of Thieves.

I loved Sorbo in Andromeda, he was okay in Hercules. I liked him for the most part. I think.. I don't remember too much

The one good thing about Schwarzenegger's acting was that it made Steve Reeves look good.

Quinn was one of the last giants. He is truly missed by a world of fans.

I'm not on about Arnie as Conan(though honestly, I quite liked them) I mean Arnold played Herc.

One of his first movies is Hercules in New York and they dub his voice - its terrible!!!

I 100% on both.

I'm 5 episodes in, lol, and there are so many errors. Ares is shown as some weird looking giant thing, which I'm guessing they'll cop out and eventually say it wasn't what he always looked like.. even though Hercules said he did.. Also Lucy Lawless.. Xena.. is playing a DIfferent character in Hercules named Lyla.. does Lyla become Xena.. I Don't remember that 😛... Plus a centaur I believe had 2 legs in the first 2-3 eps now they have 4... I'm trying to get by all these errors :silly:

No, they aren't the ones most loyal to continuity I'm afraid. I find you just look past it and enjoy it for the fun of it. As for Xena/Lilah- *shrugs*. I'm not sure. I do know Xena used to be like an evil princess battley woman, slaughtering innocent people and then she went all Angel (or Spike....) and changed her ways, fighting for the greater good and all that. Sure she had a fling with Ares too.....

I have season one of this on DVD but only watched the first episode so far, and none of the TV movies. I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid. The show is a bit silly, the acting is kinda lame, and it's a total cheesefest, but it's fun.

I saw bits and pieces of NBC's recent TV movie "Hercules" and it looked pretty good, I wish they'd make another series, but one that wasn't so cornball.

I have seasons 3,4,5,6, on dvd the rest I have to rent / watch somewhere else.

I am halfway through season 1, it is something fun to watch. It doesn't suck! And I know it gets better so I'm happy 🙂

awww you guys are bringing back my childhood. i TOTALLY watched Hercules and Xena! Now i think i ought to rent the seasons....

Hercules sucked. The stories were repetitive, they had no originality about them and the characters were one dimensional. Basically the show had no depth, it was like Baywatch for Chicks. The show had absolutely nothing to say. It was just brainless television. After a hard days work you just tune in and turn off(your brain, not the TV).

Xena on the other hand, is the start of a dirty joke that I will not finish.
