Here Be Superheroes

The wife and I managed to take time to go to the movies this weekend, and we saw the latest of the tsunami of superhero movies that seem to be the hot thing these days, and that's what brought this thought to mind. Would you like to live in a world inhabited by people like Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Wonder Woman, and even Buffy and her gang? Bear in mind that a world inhabited by superheroes implies that there would also be super VILLAINS, as well as the resultant death and destruction resultant in their battles.

Personally, as much as I enjoy the movies, I think that the cons of such an existence would outweigh the pros, but then I tend to prefer the quiet peaceful life these days.

Well, unless your saying superheroes would HAVE to have supervillans, I would still say... maybe. It would still be an exciting world to live in, even with the death and crazy fights with superman flying into coca-cola signs. And im sure certain things would be made better even with superviallns as the con.

But..if we have our world as we know it now and then have a Superman come into our lives...that would be freaking awesome. Super villans only really exist for the narrative but I think with a superman, our world would be a much better place. World hunger alone would be fairly easy to solve for superman!

As for the other superheroes, Buffy exists in the dark (well, until recently) so I wouldnt really know any different even if she did exist. Spiderman, Iron Man, and WW are all awesome superheroes too so im sure our world would be pretty exciting with them. I dont want a quiet life, i want destruction and heroes to end said destruction! It would finally give the newspapers something interesting to write.

It seems to me that superheroes and supervillians only mean cities get totally destroyed so I'd say no. Unless it's like Silum said about Buffy. Her we really wouldn't notice if someone like her existed so that's harder to know. But I'm more than ok with a life without vampires and demons so I'd say no thanks to that too.

Totally, because if we had supervillains, maybe then the country will stop battleing each other and start battleing the actual batties.

I'm all for Superheroes and Supervillains!

I'm not advocating genocide, but if some superpowered ne'er do well wants to thin out the populace and we have a crime fighting super dude/tte in tight lycra all over the front pages of the news paper instead of the vacuous bints like Lindsey Lohan or Paris Hilton, I'm all for it.

Heck, I'd love to be a supervillain if I had the choice, but I have neither the power nor the funds - so I take solace in my 'mock the fatties at the gym' power!

While Gothamesque, or make that Sunnydalesque, day dreams can be entertaining when I've watched a good film or read a good book playing with alternate realities, I'm happy to settle in the reality we've already got. If there was super powers like that in the world, I think we'd quicly see what White Avenger makes clear in the first post: That super powers not necessarily come with superior morality.

Blaze, the countries would probably fight eachother over who's to blame for the supervillains.
