Just reading an article about Sky One and it said the following:

The loss to Sky One of Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been very damaging, and so Airey has also brought in Hex, a "UK version" of the show. "It is certainly the most ambitious drama that Sky One has ever commissioned," says Airey, who is anxious to challenge the notion that Sky does not make any quality original programming.

Variety reports that Sony Pictures TV International is teaming with Shine Entertainment and Sky One on the British supernatural TV series HEX. The teen-oriented show is set at a progressive English college and focuses on a female student who deals with the occult in addition to the usual school pressures. HEX director Brian Grant, producers Julian Murphy and Johnny Capps and American executive producer Dean Hargrove are veterans of another successful SPTI show, AS IF; the new series will star Joseph (MASTER AND COMMANDER) Morgan and Geraldine (CALENDAR GIRLS) James.

So what do you think of this "HEX". I don't think they'll be able to make it the same quality, I mean even by the sounds its a big rip off. I'll give it a chance but I don't think it has much chance.
 
well i suppose this is a step in the right direction. Drama replaces those stupid naked programmes. but then again just ripping off buffy is not a good thing.

Meh. might as well give it a chance.

EDIT: i wonder if they'll do a 6 or 12 episode run like most BBC stuff or i'll their go for an american style season of 20 odd

if they do it'll probabley be the first British show since Doctor Who to do so. ofcourse soaps dont count as their rubbish 😛
 
Nothing will ever replace the Buffster but hopefully it is something nifty on our screens!!! It is only 5 episodes which is not very long.
 
I'd like to second that "Please, God, Don't suck". I remember the glory days of The Last Train and Ultraviolet...
 
Yeah, I spoke to Sky earlier about that - it's the standard UK way of comissioning shows... You never get 22 ep runs in the UK, apparently.

I'm actually hoping to secure an interview the producers of Hex soon, so if anybody has any questions bang them my way... Sky have also managed to inadvertently spoil me on the phone over something in the show, but it does sound cool.

From what I understand, there's some money behind this one, with a proper 'verse kinda thing going on, so it might not actually suck. We'll see, of course.
 
I've heard it all over the place, including Fangoria and interviews with Sky honchos. It's a fairly sure thing.

It's official, trust me - I spoke to the BSkyB Corporate Communication team on the phone about it today myself (I wrote the posted article). James Murdock (head of BSkyB) also recently commented on it in an article.

I shall be putting up lots more information in the coming days - the folk at Sky are being very slow at publising this one, and are particularly missing the Internet fandom boat, so hopefully I can sort that for them. You see, I'm a nice, caring guy.

Unless they cancel it after 2 episodes, and I will hunt them down with a fork and spoon.
 
Lets not be hasty. Depending on how the series works out, you may want to hunt them down for airing it in the first place...
 
Jill, that post cracked me up. Spoon'age will be required if it sucks, too. Especially since I'm the person publising it for them, as they, you know, haven't bothered and all.

Cast and crew of course, if the info is not out by then.

I don't imagine they want it to be thought of as just a Buffy/Angel clone, so how will it differ from B/A? Will it have it's own, unique voice? What will that voice be?

Any possibility of Jossverse cast or crew getting an invite for a temp job? 😉
 
Nurgh, apologies, I hadn't realised this - somebody beat me to it, it appears. I do have some more information than has been covered in the media.

Interestingly, the director of Hex, Brian Grant, used to direct some 'odd' things - "Bugs" in 1995 if anybody remembers that, to Highlander, to a film called "The Immortals".

anyone that did swore to never speak of it again. that and the silly police time travel show the BBC made about the same time.

Yes, Crime Traveller just came out on DVD as it happens - you can pick it up at HMV.

I hear it's FLYING off the shelves so quickly they've got VAN LOADS of the DVDs turning up every day to keep all the customers happy for the sophistated, well written, emotional BBC story that is CRIME TRAVELLER.

Or not.
