Did anyone watch this on sky one last night, i did, its meant to be the new buffy/charmed type program, it was alright who was that guy who killed thelma- why did he have powers and why did he kill her, how did cassie get her powers, i dont understand but it was still good, but i dontthink its good enough to replace buffy now is it, as if that could ever happen!!!!! lol
We enjoyed it here at Pointy Towers. I wish they hadn't started with the "British Buffy" thing as it wasn't really like that - OK high school kids, supernatural stuff - but that was all really. I thought it had more of a Neil Gaiman thing going on - not a bad start point btw.
The guy was Azazeal - one of the Nephilim (think fallen angel with a big dose of evil and voodoo). Cassie's powers were awakened by that voodoo vase thingy and her blood falling on it, I thought. I think we find out later
that she is a distant ancestor of Rachel McBain (the lady of the manor)
The whole school setting seemed a bit unrealistic however - was it meant to be some sort of private liberal arts sixth form college or what? But it was a good story despite that (Picky Pointy)
Anyway, the Pointy verdict is that is was well written and filmed and shows a lot of promise. We will be watching the next ep.
And thats a suprise for me, cuz it takes a lot for me to watch British television...normally its just yawn...lol...
There was a couple of things I learned, and things I didnt like on the show...
I learnt that you really shouldnt judge a book by its cover, lol, because...I was reading through the Sunday magazine, and noticed Thelma, and thought 'She's really annoying looking, Im not gonna like her!' and when actually, she turns out to be my favourite character! lol! And of course, in true Lee style,
she ends up dying *cough-Anya-Lilah-Cordelia-cough*
Buuuuuuuut, I didnt like how they used the creepy music, a lot...there was sometimes when it just wasnt needed, and they continued to use it...
My last point would be, could they have chosen a WORSE person to play the Vicar/Priest person at the end!? I mean, if you've been unfortunate enough to sit through Footballers Wives, you'll know what I mean, but...eeeh-gad! Worst decision ever award! lol!
Looking forward to next weeks ep though...thats a good sign 😛
Okay, to go in a completely differnt direction.....I didn't like it. I thought it was slow and slightly boring. I couldn't keep up. I'm not really one for british TV but I tried and I'll watch next week to see if it's any better. Some of the acting wasn;t great but I thought the actress chosen to play Cassie was good choice...some of the others acting seemed a bit raw. Speical effects weere good though.
Oh and "British Buffy"? I DON'T THINK SO!
Promoting it as that has rubbed me up the wrong way.
