I'm looking for a new tv series on dvd, and this one looks interesting, but I've never seen or even heard of it before.. Has anyone got any advise? It's described as a "soap opera with elements of Buffy and Charmed."

I have season 1 on DVD and it was alright. I do want to see season 2 but not a priority. It was given to me as a gift from a guy and can tell why he liked it so much 😛 It has supernatural elements but I wouldnt really compare it with buffy. It is a better show then Charmed from what I have seen.
It was entertaining but not the greatest show I have ever seen. If its cheap its probably worth a look.

Season 1 was okay. Problem is, the show went downhill fast, and Season 2 was about the most disjointed thing I've seen in forever. None of the writing is really up to "Buffy" standards, but there are some interesting characters - I liked the character of Thelma a lot, she was fun and Jemima Rooper seemed to be having a great time with her. It's worth a watch.

Hex was really enjoyable. It's sort of Buffy uncensored. It goes places that American prime-time would never have allowed. I really enjoyed it, I hate how we were left hanging though.

But you can't hold every show to Buffy standards, cause it's just not going to happen...

I don't, that was just the easiest way to describe it, since most every place it's reviewed tries to push it as the "British Buffy". It's not.
Heard nothing but bad things about this show, all from fellow Buffy fans.

I decided to check it out for myself based on that, just to see. Abysmal, utterly, terribly, horribly abysmal.

Disjointed, aimless, worst villain in television history, uses lesbianism as a way of nearly begging the viewer to stay tuned in, story goes nowhere, just nodded off early on into the first or second episode I watched, can't remember as they sort of bleed together story wise.

Skip it.

Hey, I have never heard of it... Can sb tell me what is it about??

Hex was a British supernatural television series which debuted in 2004 and aired on the Sky One satellite channel. It was cancelled after two seasons.

The story was about a remote English country school that becomes the battleground between a demonic entity and the witches who fight against it.

I myself tried to watch the series online, (when it first debuted in the UK) but grew frustrated with the slowness of my dial-up service, so I quit watching.

The show was, and does remain, quite popular.

That's harsh. Hex wasn't ground breaking tv but it wasn't what you described it either.

Well, I guess this is what is meant by "Mixed reviews." I guess I'll just have to risk my $20 and hope for the best. Thanks to everyone for your honest opinions.

why wasn't there a season three ? am quite still upset about that i have both seasons they rock x

In a nutshell, the ratings for Season Two dropped like a stone, although I am unaware of the specifics as to what happened on the program to cause this.

Hence, loss of revenue, loss of show.

They did possibily the most insane thing I have ever see a show do and
killed off the main character and introduced a new character as lead
that's what killed it for me anyway.

I really enjoyed it, but i could see how it's not for everyone.

Also I think allot of people wouldn't like it cuz its english and it has that look and feel of an english show, I myself am not really a fan of allot of english TV cuz it doesn't sit right with me.

But I really liked this.

Wasn't there an English series about Robin Hood that did the same thing? (Or maybe that was too long ago for most of you to remember.) The "Young Indiana Jones" series did something similar, too, and it survived for awhile.

Anyhow, Season 1 is the only one available here right now, so that's not an issue.

Thanks for the warning, though.

Season one is definitely worth a viewing and especially if it's onlly $20...season 2 costs €39.99 in HMV here...that's over $60!
