Most of the dvd's and books that I buy now, I buy used through Amazon, sometimes at a discount of 75% or more, quite often still sealed in the original boxes. You can't beat that with a stick.

blame that on Christina Cole, who decided she didn't want to continue. I don't really blame her much; I found her character pretty unlikeable, especially compared to Jemima Rooper's Thelma (who did get trashed in Season 2.)

I love this show. Very nice moody, gothic atmosphere to it, and I personally love the villain. At first I didn't like Christina Cole's character either but once I realized how realistic she was and that she had good qualities too, I like her a lot. I like her more than Ella as well.
Seasons one and two are two completely different shows though. (For those with DVD in America, season one consists of several season two episodes.) The second season gets a little TOO silly but it's still really good. But I can see why the ratings dropped.
I really wish they'd remake the show (still set in England though) with the darker tone of the first season, and go with the original direction of the show...they completely changed everything which really annoys me.

It's serialized so it basically IS a soap opera..."serialized drama" is just another word for it. 😉 But both are just shows with ongoing arcs. 🙂

I personally liked the show but was disappointed that BBCA waited a year after showing season one to "debut" the final season. Really couldnt get into the second season only because of that. Would love to be able to get both seasons and see what happened.

well, i never heard of the show before now, but ill have to check blockbuster online to see if they have it. however, after reading all of these mixed reviews, im not sure if i should rent it or not.
to be honest, i dont want to get involved in another show right now, even if its only 2 seasons. im currently watching all of battlestar galactice (which is fracking awesome), sarah connor chronicles starts in september and dollhouse starts in january. i still need to leave time for soccer, work, sleep and wife (not in that order).

I got mine through Blockbuster (used), so I know that they have it, but only Season 1 is available.
