Later I saw them watch it and wanted to watch with them, of course they didn't want their 9 year old daughter to watch it, but I persisted to watch it. Eventually they let me watch it and I covered my eyes everytime a vampire or demon was on screen. 😛
Later I got the Angel box set (1-5) for christmas and we watched that together too. 🙂

Haha, that's so cute 😀. I was never afraid of the monsters, but maybe it's because I was older when I started watching it. I think that I was more drawn to the drama of the relationships.

(There are people here on BB, who disagree with me on that though 😉 For some, Angel is even better than Buffy. So you should just get your own opinion on that 🙂)

I have heard from many people, who don't watch Angel, that it is because they don't like Angel as a character on Buffy.
I myself didn't really like Angel (the character) that much on Buffy, but in my opinion he gets better on his own show. And it's not all about him anyway 🙂
Btw, if you like Angelus, then Angel has some great eps there for you.
Also, because you're a Spike fan I'd recommend you to give it a try. He appears on Angel when he is evil (which is so hilariouse, I just love him!!!!) and also when he is "a better man" with a soul (again really funny scenes, Spike is great 😀).
Also if you like Cordelia... Or even if you don't, she has a great arc on Angel.

If you like her on Buffy already, great! There's more of her! If you don't like her on Buffy... Maybe she can convince you on Angel, that she is a great character 🙂
Oh and Wesley... One of the best character arcs EVEEER!!!!! I looooooove him sooo much! (Would never have thought that on Buffy though 😛)
And you said you don't like Faith in season 3, but you like her in season 7, well... Don't you wanna see how she changed to the character you like now? You're missing an important part of Faiths character development and redemption arc if you don't watch Angel.
And some beloved characters from Buffy have guest appearences, like Oz, Willow, Buffy herself 😀
And Angel the series has great "own" characters, that don't have their origin on Buffy. Like Lorne (A freakin' singing demon! (But not like Sweet from OMWF) Lorne is really awesome 😀) And Fred! (Love her soooo much!!!!! She's my favourite character after Willow 🙂) And there are many more amazing characters on Angel!!!
But well, you should see for yourself. I hope I didn't spoiler anything 😳 I really tried to avoid spoilers, but I got a little carried away... So hopefully nothing big 😯
I just can repeat myself, I really recommend you to give it a try.

(Btw I love all seasons but my favourite is season 5... So even if you don't love it from the start, keep watching 😀)
Oh well I love all of the Whedonverse that I have watched so far (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse) they're all really, really, really amazing in my opinion! So... I might not be the best judge, I'm a little biased, 'cause I love it all so much, all of it 😍

Buffy is also my favourite character along with Spike as a close second.
also I'm super into metaphors and symbolism which is one of the biggest reasons why I like it as much as I do, honestly, any type of literature, film or tv show that is thick with metaphors, I will probably instantly enjoy. And also I'm really into redemption arcs (as long as they die at the end) so I really go into the right show!

I watched Buffy in January because it is my uncle's favourite tv show and I wanted to check it out and I instantly got hooked, I was the target audience (I'm 16) so I thought I might as well watch it. The buffyverse also holds some nostalgia,I've always loved monsters and I was obsessed when I was younger so I used to try and summon demons, which luckily for me, never worked haha.

Omg, you are so passionate 😀 that I think that I'll give Angel a real chance 😉. I think that I just automatically mentally link David Boreanaz to Bones so I find difficult to give him a chance in another show, but I will try... soon... hopefully. You're a good seller. But I'm not so much convinced by Firefly and Dollhouse, we'll see after Angel 😉.

16! Oh gosh, either you are too young, or I'm too old 😕... but at least it's great to know that BtVS is still "in" among the younger cohorts. I do love it, it allows to escape the routine while I exercise, so it's a win-win 😉.

And yeah, it's cool that the show is still kinda relevant despite the fact it's rather dated now.

To be fair, a lot of older shows are like that too, but the stories and characters are still interesting. I was surprised to find that The Fugitive 1960s series holds up well, even though it was made nearly 60 years ago, and I only started watching it a few years ago.

I'm usually not into shows that are from before the 2000s so it was a nice surprise for me to actually enjoy Buffy.

I was a program manager in an avionics company than went out on my own and became a consultant in design verification in the final year of Angel. After a long career in electronics. My daughter is probably your age or older.

Ok, I won't complain about age anymore 😉. May ask what attract you to BtVS? And to the forum?

I don't regret it, yet 😉, it's great having an outlet for sharing your thoughts and being exposed to other points of view.

When it was on TV it was the best thing on, by far. The combination of attractive characters, good world-building for the vampire lore, snappy dialog and great character arcs made it stand head and shoulders above anything else. I joined the forum in 2012 because CHCH TV, a local independent station, started showing all the episodes at 5 PM every day and I watched through three cycles of 144 shows. I found the forum because it had rekindled my interest in the show and I wanted to see what other aficionados thought about it. I started seeing points of view that I had not seen before, so I got sucked in. And since then, I have spent about 10% of my life on the boards. Some people may think this is an unwise waste of a finite lifespan but I say it's time well wasted.
