Hello,

Okey, confession. I just started watching this show for the first time a month ago. I hope I won't be kicked out of the boards immediately after joining for confessing to that 😱
But I am hooked now. I don't even know why I didn't watch this when it first was on air. I was in highschool back then, for crying out loud. So I was totally in the right target audience, but for some reason I just didn't think of watchig it. Maybe they aired it in weird time like middle of the night in my country or something, I don't know... (Finland, btw is my homecountry, so bare with me if I sometimes make spelling errors)

But a month ago one weekend I was just browsing through a streaming service I have, looking for a new show to binge watch, saw Buffy and thought hey why not, and ended up watching seven episodes straight before I had to give up and go to bed. But yeah, I was hooked and now thinking how on earth I didn't get hooked on this all those years ago. Gotta by the DVD collection now, cause you never know with these streaming services when they take it off.

So, I have now watched six seasons in one month (I know, probably doesn't even sound impressive and fast enough lol), so I have one more season to go.
Also saw the Angel show on there, so now I'm wondering should I watch that next? Is it worth it? Angel is a allright character, but I don't know if he can carry a show to my liking? Also, never was that fond of Cordelia, who they whisked off to that show too....

Anyways, look forward to chatting up with all of you from time to time 🙂

oh, and p.s. Yeah, Spike is my absolute favourite, was from the very first episode he was on.

You must watch Angel next.... here is your incentive.... You'll love it and the Buffyverse will continue on screen for another 5 seasons after you finish Buffy season 7 😍

When you start watching Angel, you're going to meet an Angel who feels both new and familiar. He inhabits a very limited role on Buffy. On his own show, we get to see new sides to him. Angel was pretty much a nobody before he came to Sunnydale, so on his show, he is trying to figure out who he wants to be.

Cordelia is also in many ways the same, but she is no longer the rich and popular high school princess. She is a penniless teenager living by herself in the big city.

AtS is both a very different and very similar show to BtVS. I find it to be a little more hit and miss than its sistershow, but when it is good it is really good. Angel and Cordelia are joined by a large cast of old and new faces, and the stories are varied and engaging, so you will definitely find something to like.

Yeah, you should definitely watch ATS, you will see some characters from BTVS evolving greatly. I personally don't find ATS S1 great but ATS S2 is a great season and will make ATS a great show. Angel 's character is soooo interesting in that season.

ATS has also great and well done episodes (in writing, directing) like BTVS, also interesting characters, heartbreaking stories and moments even crossovers. Plus Spike is in one episode in S1 and more.... ATS is worth watching.
 
I put off watching Angel for years after finishing Buffy...but when I did I loved it.

Welcome. It’s never too late to start watching BtVS or any show for that matter. I never really got into Buffy until a decade ago (2009) when I started watching the series on Syfy UK. I knew of the show but forgot about it I guess (I probably had more of an interest in other shows at the time), though I liked the few episodes I saw here and there from seasons 5 and 6 around 2002/2003 when I was in my teens.

Watching six seasons in one month is very impressive imo. I’m not a fan of binge watching tbh (I prefer just to watch 3-4 episodes at a time). I start to get tired of a show after that.

Buffy and Spike are two of my favourite characters as well, though I like Giles and Willow too.

You speak good English.

I’d say Angel is worth watching, though I’m probably biased, as I actually watched most it before Buffy. One of top 3 shows along with Buffy and The Fugitive 1960s series.
 
Welcome to the boards! Definitely watch Angel, it has a completely different feel to it. Depending on how you see it, it is either visually more rich or more cluttered because a lot of it happens at night and there is more on the screen to see. It takes a few more risks in its writing, some to good effect and others not universally liked, but when the show was on and it was watercooler talk, quite often the Angel episode for the week was better liked than the Buffy episode.

AtS is one of my all time favorite shows and I am not a huge fan of Cordelia (on either show really although I do develop a soft spot for her in ats s1-2). But then again Angel is my second favorite character in the buffyverse and Wesley is up there too so that could be it. Anyway, I hope you'll give ats a shot. 🙂
 
Hello and welcome! Glad to hear you got hooked on Buffy just as quickly as I did! I'd definitely recommend watching Angel. It's even better in a lot of ways, and Angel himself is a lot more fun on his own series.
 
Welcome to the boards! Also, I'm gonna chip in with many of the others and say that you should definitely give Angel a chance, I personally prefer it of the two shows (though I do love Buffy) and I know I'm not alone in thinking that.

Spike's my favorite BtVS character, too 😀

Thank You for the warm welcome. You know, it really surprised me that there was an active forum for this show.
I mean with many shows, if you try and find a discussion forum, you'll see that the last post was written like five years ago.
But this dedication truly shows that there was something special in this series and it still has such loyal fans.

And I guess there's no way round it now, with so many saying I should give it a go, I guess I'll have to give Angel a shot 🙂
