Hi : ) My name's Suzie Q, and I just want to say before I get into a rant that I'm an artist and very VERY willing to draw Buffy character portraits (or anything else) for a very reasonable price!! So obviously I love Buffy (duh) Basically I've always been drawn to shows that feature kick ass women. First it was Power Rangers (I know)...then it was Xena for a while, and then I found Buffy. I was about 13 at the time and my timing sucked because it was the summer of 2003 and the show had JUST ended...I started playing the Buffy video game on xbox and from there i was hooked. I still remember my first episode, it was "bewitched, bothered and bewildered". I can't remember ever being more obsessed with anything in my life, it was more than a show about vampires...it made me feel understood (which for a 13 year old girl, is a BIG FREAKING DEAL) For a while, I got a little out of control with my obsession but in my defense I was 13 lol. I would watch it everyday, I tried my best dress like Buffy, one time I actually cried because I couldn't afford an authentic stake used in the show that was up for auction on eBay lol, I had a shrine on my wall of pictures and quotes from the show, I had all the dolls and soundtrack CDs and even a subscription to the magazine, and I had a life sized cardboard cutout of Sarah Michelle Gellar in my room for the longest time (which came in handy every April Fools Day as I would hide her in strategic places every year, such as the shower, and wait for the scream) It was pretty out of control lol I've since tamed down a bit. Now it's more of a calm affection and deep appreciation for the writers and cast for getting me through my teen years, even if it did make me bat shit crazy for a while. There really is no show like it. I love that there's an episode for nearly every real life situation, that anybody could relate to and gain perspective from. "Life serial" is my go-to episode when i feel like I'm failing at life and can't seem to find my niche (I find myself needing to watch that episode a bit too often actually). I love that Buffy is so kick ass but that she's also SO real in dealing with whatever demon comes her way, whether it's literal or figurative. I wish I could hug Joss or Sarah Michelle or anyone that had a part in creating such a beautiful thing. Not to be SUPER corny but seriously- this show saved my life! Keep slaying, my friends! love ya : )

Hey and welcome to BB! Hope to see you around soon and a lot 🙂

Welcome!! And the phrase "Buffy saved my life" is NOT corny! I say the very same thing all the time!

Welcome to the boards! Interesting how you're pretty close to my age, but completely different experiences with the series (I didn't start watching it until earlier this year). I always like hearing about people's experiences with the series -- not sure why, I just find that really interesting.

Welcome aboard SuzieQ!!!!!! It's really great to see you here! Have fun exploring!!! 🙂

(and shut up, Lu! ;-))
