High School is Hell

I kind of love high school. I stay out of drama and I'm the top in most of my classes, so that's cool... only the last two years have I really been getting into more activities. So, you see more drama that way... buuuut I really don't care what people think about me, so I think that's what helps me through. Because I know I have friends and a mother who I know will never judge me. I just started senior year 3 weeks ago and I met two really cool gay guys, right? But I also met this really Christian girl. Well, I got invited to church with this girl (because really all there is to do in this town is drink and go to church lol) and it turns out she hates gay people... well, that took me through a loop! It was really weird for me because I've never met someone that I thought was really cool and then have it turn out that she's like that...anyways, that's part of drama in high school these days... Plus the fact that I have this girl at school that is totally insane and totally in love with me which is REALLY creepy....but we all have fun at lunch... wer laugh and I hear the randomest things. Like about giving birth to faires. Don't ask lol So, high school really isn't hell, but it's not heaven either. I can't wait for college!

Sorry if this made no sense. My posts rarely do! lol I have a bunch of scattered thoughts.

Woah, hey, it's been a long time since I've posted 'round these parts...

Anyway, I wouldn't call high school "hell" - middle school was way worse. Freshman year was really the only tough part. It was my first year in the district that I'd moved to, so everyone else already had their friends, and I was in my awkward phase that had peaked during middle school (overweight, miserable, self-conscious as all hell). I did manage to make a few friends, but I didn't really come into my own until about mid-sophomore year, which was when I started growing into myself and I lost a bunch of weight and started getting a lot more confident/approachable. By junior and senior year it was relatively smooth sailing - I had lots of friends (although in spite of the number of friends I had, I wasn't exactly one of the "cool" kids - most of us were in the marching band), good grades/SAT scores, officer positions in a bunch of clubs, and a crappy after-school minimum wage job.

Were they the best years of my life? I sure as hell hope not. But I had good times and good friends and even though I had my bouts of misery/drama, the good (or at the very least the mediocre) seemed to outweigh the bad.

For most of it? Yes. Rumors flew rampantly about me. People would come ask me about them, and I'd thank them for letting me know, albeit sarcastically.
That was so bad at my school people would start rumors and then by second period everything went crazy.

Well the times I was actually at school it was either hellish or fun. Looking back now I can see some positive, don't get me wrong people in my school were very brutal but once you get a tough skin it becomes normal and easy. I would say 6th grade was worse for me because I didn't have a tough skin then.

Now I think the worst part was the teachers/staff they were something else. There is even a facebook page dedicated to how much my school was un-school like and the things people used to get away with. Overall I think high school was rough but it did have its great moments they were fun but usually when getting in trouble lol.

I think once you outgrow the childish drama and move on from the people and anything involving it you look back and can smile takes time but it happens.

I am currently in the equvalent of high school I think, my first year of college in the UK, and tbh it is great, there is literally no one making fun of others, the school I go to is great, and I dont think there is anyone judging everyone!! In my old school it was wayyy different, but I am so happy I moved, the vibe is ten times better 😀

High school wasn't completely horrible for me... I wasn't popular, but I wasn't thought of as unpopular, either. I did have a lot of really mean girls in my school make comments about my weight and stuff, but I have always been the type to be able to come back with a sarcastic comment or something to let people know that a) I'm not going to take any sh!t and b) I'm not going to be too bothered by something someone says about me.
The only thing that was hard about high school for me was the fact that I never had a single boyfriend (except for 1 from Canada that I "dated" long-distance over the Internet). Because I did suffer from weight issues in high school, I was known as the "fat" one of the group and guys never saw me as pretty standing next to my friends. I went to all but 4 high school dances by myself, and the times I did have dates they were guy friends that I had to ask.
I did have a stalker in high school, but he was severely twisted. Seriously, if anyone had ever pulled a Columbine at our school he would have been the one to do it. 🙁

I'm so sorry to hear that you went through all that. But sounds like you were a fun gal to know for sure! It's rare to be able to stand up for yourself during those awkward teen years!

same here didn't really date. I agree though about the not taking anything. Once you do that people learn to back off.
I went to a very "different" type of high school. I liked to complain about it at the time, but looking back, I really did enjoy myself. Sure there were hard times. But hellish? No, fortunately.

From the point of view of someone who loves Buffy, my school was a great place to be every day, (vague, I know, but that's all I'm sayin')... 😉

I really hated high school. Actually, we only have elementary school (grades 1-4) and high school (grades 5-10/13 (depending on what type of school you're on...if you plan to go to university, you need to be on a school that goes up to grade 12/13), and probably the worst years for me were the 'middle school' years. 8th-10th grade sticks out to me as being particularly bad, 11-13 was better, but if I compare it to my life now at unviersity it's still very much up there on the list of worst years of my life.

I didn't have many friends, I was widely unpopular, my grades were so bad I almost had to repeat the year constantly and I had no self-esteem or confidence. I'm probably traumatized for life with my experiences from school, so needless to say I'm glad it's over.

University is reall SO much better.

Exactly a week left of actual school lessons. After that, holidays, and then I just come and go for my final exams. 🙂

I'll miss school, though. I'll cry soooo much at graduation next week. 😀

Looking back on high school it was great. Year 8-9 was hard, but not because of school, I was very depressed and trying to balance having 3 different lives going at once. By the time I got to year 10 I had simplified my life a bit.

Year 11 and 12 was fantastic. I got sent to a private boarding school and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. It was a tiny school with 16 in my entire grade and no more than 14 co-ed boarders at a time. I had a brilliant time. I was house captain and belle of the ball, on the netball, rowing and gymnastics team. I appreciated every moment I was there. I wish it had gone on for a few more years!

I had never thought anything would be as good as those last two years at school, and up until now, nothing has been. Im just starting to enjoy life again after nearly 8 years of darkness, but having the memories from the grammar school has got me through so many tough times. Im so thankful I had that experience.

The more I think about High School, the more I realize how cruel it could be sometimes.
I recently realized that my lack of self-confidence comes from High School. I've been called weird, fat, ugly (I even was nominated Second Ugliest Girl of the class). People have made fun of my wild hair, of my style. I was called fat while I was just more curvy than the average. I also had bully teachers, like that gym teacher who asked us to elect the best and the worst student at sport. Then again, I was second worst.
I had people make fun of me because I was a junior-reporter and I had my picture in a magazine.
I had people make fun of me because I had boobs.
I had people throwing balls of paper in my hair and made bets on who could throw the most in my hair.
It was harsh.
But I also had teachers who loved me, people who thought I was cool. And most of all, I had friends. Those wonderful people who don't care if I'm sometimes socially awkward. Those people who loved me just the way I was.
Those people who made me want to go to school just to see them, and laugh with them, and cry with them, and growing up with them. High School brought me my best friends, and just for that, it was great.
Without them, it really would have been hell. My sister had to go through the same kind of treatments, but she didn't have friends like I had, so it was really an awful experience for her.

It saddens me that high school can be so tough, but in a way it made me stronger. Now I don't give a damn about wathever nasty things people tell me. I am who I am, and I have friends who love me just for what I am. If you don't like me, it's your right. If you feel the need to mock me...yeah, not really impressed anymore.

(I am sure I would have love high school much more if I had received a Hogwart letter).
