High School movies

Last night I watched Heathers and I have to say that I still have this crush on High School movies. There is something about them, good and bad that makes me drawn to them.

I think it might be the mystery of High School itself that fascinates me. Being from outside of the States I have never and will never experience High School so therefore it becomes magic and mysterious. The most common opinion seems to be that High School is hell, but still from an outsider perspective it is a rather interestin phenomena.

Back to the movies. Do you like them or hate them? There are so many out there and I can't help liking them, most of them Clueless, Breakfast Club, Mean Girls, Heathers and the list goes ever on.

What's your opinion and how come?

Umm when I watch High School movies.. I tend to get the "that would NEVER happen in my old high-school" thing. I don't mind them at all, but they seem a little far fetched sometimes...


But I loved Mean Girls... Lindsay Lohan... Red hair... Nuff said 😛

I like 'em. Heathers, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Grease, Ten Things I Hate About You, Clueless, that one about the class election (the title of which I can't remember) are all faves - although a couple of those are re-treads of Shakespeare and Jane Austen.

I'm sure that my British secondary school experience was nothing like the schools portrayed on film but, then again, are any real US high schools all Hollywood? I very much doubt it 🙂

haha, high school movies. i'm still in High School and i can't really compare what happens in the movies... to my school. but i loved mean girls i mean seeing Lindsay Lohan in that skimpy lil x-mas costume was worth everything in the world.... LL is the hottest girl ever made!

i haven't seem to many. i can only remember "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" at the moment.... that is such a hilarious movie! i love it! i need to watch it again.....i also really want to see "Mean Girls" even though i hate Lindsey Lohan....

Mean Girls was really cute. I liked it a lot. I thought it was pretty original too.

I love Heathers, Clueless, Ten Things I Hate About You, Weird Science, American Pie, Not Another Teen Movie, hehehe...those movies are just mindless fun. Sometimes that's all I need to be entertained 😀

I love high school movies, and if they're not anything like real high school.. well, it doesn't bother me really. These movies aren't that good, often, imo, but they can be so much fun to watch, and well, some are just wonderful, like Heathers, hehe. Some I love: Heathers, Ten Things I Hate About You, Bring It On, Breakfast Club, Clueless.. and well, there are many more, heh..
(I so wanna be a high school cheerleader and wear those lovely skirts and have a strong gay guy lift and throw me, aww.. Damn Sweden..)

lol I love all the films already mentioned (except Election lol - hated it)

Don't forget Dazed and Confused, Drive Me Crazy (it's on tv right now), Jawbreakers, and of course Fast Times at Ridgemont High...

I don't know, I sort of see my high school in high school movies.

Cruel Intentions stands out for me only because it's not really a typical teen movie. Also it easily has the best acting.

JawBreakers wasn't that bad. I think it was trying too hard to be Heathers for the 90's but still, not bad. I did like seeing Julie Benz as a different character and Rose McGowan plays a bitch so well.

Who cares if Clueless was unrealistic, it was great! Also great was Heathers and to a lesser extent, Mean Girls. One that no one has mentioned is Election with Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick. It's brilliant and it's director by Alexander Payne, who directed and co-wrote Sideways.

A few people mentioned Election already 😉 I found it incredibly annoying.

I don't think high school movies need to be realistic. Heathers isn't that realistic either, hehe, but it's still a great movie. Most high school movies aren't supposed to tell us the truth about today's society or anything, it can be a very exaggerated truth or just no truth at all but fun movies to watch..
