Well, I hope I'm doing this right! Just thought I'd say hello here but I don't know if I necessarily need to be "adopted". It is my first time doing the whole forums thing so I'm a little bit confused yet enthused.
I'm watching Buffy right now for the first time and I very much love talking about it! Right now I'm midway through season 4 (Just watched ep. 15 "This Years Girl") and I'm trying my best to avoid spoilers ( a task that's very hard for a 20-something-year-old show) I know, perusing the Buffy Boards is not the best way to avoid spoilers, well I like to live dangerously.

Welcome 🙂 looking forward to hearing your thoughts as a first time viewer. Feel free to get posting. If you choose the specific season on the forum home page, you might be able to avoid spoilers from later season, but its still a gamble!
 
Welcome to the forum! The thing that confused me when I joined was the term "shipper" which I figured out (after about a week) meant a supporter of a particular relationship. After that, the civility and level of intelligence sold me on staying on this site and I rarely miss a day. Let us know your thoughts on how you see things from the point of view of someone who hasn't seen the entire series yet.

that is such a hard one, they are all so great! All the core scoobies own my heart and i cant choose between them!!! I also love cordelia a lot and was sad to see her leave the series!! you can probably tell by my profile picture though there is a certain boy i really like... lol!

I don't know how people feel about him over here, but there is SOOO much Xander hate over on tumblr 🙁(( Hope i can connect with some other Xander fans here
 
"sosa lola" was a dedicated, and very skilled, defender of Xander, and also detailed knowledge on where to find all the Xander fics, separated by type (from various shipping types to Xander-centric, and my own personal favorite of where Xander attempts to write a letter to Jesse's parents before giving up). But she (he?) hasn't been around in a long while. I try to take up the slack because someone has to, though I can come down on Xander myself from time to time (but I can everyone), and just can't find the passion for it that sosa lola had.

Though you would likely not approve what I'd have liked to see happen in season 5 that would end Xander. And not out of hate to Xander, I'd consider it one of the ultimate tragedies, and I bet even many who say the love the "darker" later seasons would find it too dark (though I personally consider seasons 2 and 5 darker than 6, but then maybe 6 got a bit too absurd for me). But as you're not there yet, and I'm not sure I should share anyway, I'll leave that for another day.



I'll add that for all the contempt he gets, in real life Xander would be considered a huge catch for many, having his life together at an incredibly young age, and those like Cordelia who had plenty of experience with guys saw/felt something in him she didn't others (though I do muse on possible metaphysical reasons for that, part of which means knowledge of the Angel series, so I won't say on that either).

I like Xander because I see good qualities in him, but I don't think the show really liked Xander that much.
 
That is the wonderful thing about Buffy Boards. com we accept anyone here who liked the BTVS series and yes even followers of Xander though it isn't that we hate him..
Regardless of which welcome to the site, may your stay here be fun.
