Christmas is coming!! 🎅 🎄

Okay, okay I know there's other holidays before that, so what have you got planned? What do you celebrate?

Christmas is coming!! 🎅 🎄

Okay, okay I know there's other holidays before that, so what have you got planned? What do you celebrate?

Christmas Schmistmas. Halloween is the only holiday that matters 🎃

I have several plans for the whole of October, first and foremost is to finally do 31 days of scary movies!

I don't know what I'm actually doing for Christmas Day this year, mum is going out with my aunt, she says it breaks the day up, but she has a week off work, whereas I have 2 days and that's half of one gone, so I'm not going this time. My dad is unsure about having a Christmas meal as well, he's had health issues and food now complicated! So not sure about it all yet.

I want to be free to do all the Christmas food shopping with my dad like I have done every year, then just Christmas with my family and before Christmas I've planned to take @Mehansa to an event as my Christmas gift to her, it's a surprise 😄
I get 3 days automatically off work for that season but I want to use some of my extra days off.

I don't know if I'll go through with it (be hard if I'm doing it by myself), but I was thinking of getting back into celebrating Halloween to Christmas (often New Year, including the Russian one that comes later, at least religiously, back when I had Russian Orthodox friends). I used to be a bit of a holiday geek in my 20s. And one Halloween, I even paid a ridiculous price so I could get contacts that would change my eye color.

It fizzled out in my early 30s. I held onto Halloween the longest.

Maybe this year will be different, but I don't think I'm going to get a lot of moral support, and it will definitely have to be on a strict budget (which is fine for me, it's more about mood than consumerism for me anyway).

Thought some might like this band...

I recently found out they also did Christmas...

Back in the day, I used to listen to Lovecraftian Christmas Carols, and also Cryptkeeper. And though there are much better Cryptkeeper ones, here's one I'm sure many can relate to this holiday season...

There's a lot of simple costumes you could do to dress up. Personally I want to dress up as a tethered person from Us this Halloween. I just need scissors and a red jumpsuit.
I booked my Christmas food delivery slots yesterday 😎 ! 2 slots Christmas week 🙂 . I'm pretty happy with that . I may be going the 'budget' route yet . Still haven't decided on the menu . Ideally I want turkey and sausage . I saw yesterday Asda have a 'preorder only' vegan turkey crown for a fiver , that sounds pretty interesting as an option .

I've been on the Asda website pricing up food 😀 . I'm thinking turkey on the day , sausages for breakfasts and a meal or 2 . Think I can downbrand the sausages a notch but not supercheap .

The vegan turkey has been sidelined . I'm thinking I can do a nice cauliflower cheese for a veggie main , great with christmas veg , half the price and 3 times the weight 🙂.

I'll have liver and mince in the freezer anyway , vegeburgers too , so there's no need to buy lots outside my normal food rotation .

So extra breakfast supplies , a bit of extra meat/main and veg . Jury's still out on booze and cake . Could happily skip buying booze . Got allsorts of alcohol odds and ends lying around . If I'm not going out , I won't bother with it . Could just do some sort of cake and custard ....still fancy but super thrifty 😉 .

Got a load of my Xmas stuff already .Most of the meat already in the freezer . Spent £ 1.50 on cooking bacon and ended up with a pound of streaky and a pound of middle rashers . Festive cooked breakfast is on ! 😎

Mindful of cooking costs this year. Laying in a few tins of back up veg just in case the woodstove is out of commission. Would dearly like a bag of frozen mash but my little freezer will be stuffed already 😛 . I s'pose instant mash will do as an 'in case of emergency ,break seal' type of thing .

Killing it prepwize in general though . Going up to Aberystwyth next week for my yearly pilgrimage for Lidl festive cakes 😛 . It's all gonna be pretty chilled out at mine . Nice food and plenty of it , a few treats thrown in but not the full range . Relaxed and sedate 🙂 .

Christmas shopping is almost done, and I've got my December food sat in my tesco basket. Nothing particularly extra for the month, but might get myself a little something special for new years day. I have added some cans of Coca Cola to the list though.

Just checked . My normal Lidl festive cake basket is coming in about 23 quid this year . That's just stollen and lebkuchen (with spares to eat before christmas) . Need to rationalize that list in half ! 🙂

I'm a big fan of Lindsey Stirling. Though not one of my favorites, I still enjoyed this...I was going to wait until December to post this, but I may forget...and if you don't already know the holiday song, it's not like you'd learn it here as there are no words. Not her only one, just her newest (that I'm aware of).

Just curious...can anyone name what ruined religious abbey that is in one part? (Or if it's part of a stock CGI effect for computer scenery? I'm wondering if she's doing more CGI than usual because she dances AND plays at the same time, and while awesome at both, I don't recall her doing both at the same time before...a little skip while playing, sure, but not like that, and I'm sure I caught moments where she wasn't actually playing but the music didn't stop.) It looks familiar, but I cannot place it!

Actually, I'm curious of any of those places. I'll probably look it up one day.

I kinda want to think this was shot in Ireland, maybe Scotland, but I shudder with a mix of awe and horror to think of the patience for them to be able to shoot those scenes without rain (at least mud splattering about) if that was the case. 😛

Thanks. Now just the ruined monastery that I'm most curious about...I feel like I've seen it somewhere else before (like that exact one) but can't quite remember...
I think she'd make a great young Rowena in supernatural!

I started wrapping presents last night, next Sunday is when I start wearing Christmas jumpers, and the decorations come out. Won't do them all on Sunday, but build it up over a few weeks.

Heard Christmas songs on the radio as I was wrapping. I have smooth radio playing on Alexa and East 17 was playing!

I'm going to put up my decorations after Thanksgiving, but I have been listening to a lot of Christmas music recently. Hippo for Christmas, The Christmas Song (by Nat King Cole), Sleigh Ride, etc.

My freezer is stuffed with Christmas ! 😵Still need to repack it ,so I can fit another loaf in there . Hardcore freezer gymnastics for me on Christmas morning .

Breakfast is bacon, sausage, tomatoes ,mushrooms and toast .Might do eggs too ,but I've been leaning on egg based meals pretty hard to keep in budget this year . A break might be nice 🙂. Might saute a few potatoes and have some beans if I get bored, maybe black pudding . There's quite a lot of bacon to plough through . Some veggie breakfast bits would have been great ,but just can't afford the extra stuff this year .

All I need now is some fresh veg Christmas week, a few cakes and I am done with the holiday housekeeping. 🙂

There's some 69p pate in my shopping basket for next month, as well as cheap crumpets. I might add eggs as well though, but not sure yet.
Have put another gammon joint in the basket, but I'll do that nearer the start of the month. It's boxing day I need to think about really.

I've begun the hunt for where I put the decorations last time, found most of them, but know there's more somewhere
