Well, we finally got our Christmas cards made up today! It's a couple of weeks later than we'd aimed for, but Canada Post's deadline isn't until the 16th? Which seems... optimistic... for them, but it's good news for the couple households we are getting cards from the farmer's market for this weekend. (I know that sounds wonky lol, but our local market has handmade pop-up cards that are super sweet!).

We love sending our loved ones snail mail (how often do people get mail that isn't a bill or notice anymore!) we've sent them out every year for about a decade and it's kinda grown into this big family tradition. First we got boxed cards to be fancy, then custom address labels... this year we actually got a $19 wax seal kit too that is worth every penny! It's fun to dress up the cards a little more every year.

I told Mrs that I want to add christmas-coloured confetti inside 'em next year, but the idea was poorly received ๐Ÿ˜‚ We'll see
 
Did Lidl yesterday for Christmas treats . ๐Ÿ™‚ Didn't go mad ,just 11 quid on a rum stollen and some lebkuchen . Pretty excited about it ! ๐Ÿ˜› . I 'd buy them year round if I could ๐Ÿ™‚ Gonna back that up with a fruit pie and a sponge of some sort .Got a major hankering for a warm piece of apple pie with evaporated milk ....and sponge and custard . Both cheapie cheerful desserts . One advantage of a budget Christmas is I've got actual space in the fridge to store food for immediate serving .
 
I'm thinking about Christmas tv watching, the Royal Christmas carols is on Christmas eve, but I might watch it over breakfast on Christmas day.
Usually watch whatever Disney film is on after dinner, but that just depends on what it is, as I'll be at dad's then.
Boxing day is my lazy day, so I'm thinking of catching up with The Crown then, I'm roughly half way through season 2, so I'll see how I do.
 
I already watched Hawkeye to kickstart a bit of holiday enthusiasm ...and loved it ๐Ÿ˜› .Might start it again on Christmas eve . Do want to watch something 'christmasy' but only in an incidental way ...more Die Hard than Santa Clause.

I wish I had die hard on dvd to watch, be great to watch Christmas evening, after too much food.
I will watch Polar Express soon, maybe tomorrow evening, its one I watch every year.
 
Watched the Grinch and Nativity. Want to find some new Christmas films but can't find any good ones.
 
I watched The Polar Express last night, my Christmas film watching had begun. I'll watch The Nightmare Before Christmas and Angela's Christmas. I plan on watching the new Shaun the Sheep Christmas one, and I'll probably put on one of the Netflix films or more!
 
Well I'm watching The Snowman, and I've either forgotten parts or not actually watched it fully before! I don't remember some bits at all!
Last of the Christmas cards posted today, and I've opened the apple stollen from Aldi
 
Christmas films are more about nostalgia for half existent past, it's art, because it does emotionally involve the audience. It doesn't have to be good, it just has to evoke comforting memories of a half forgotten past.

I watched a pretty cute movie on Lifetime the other night about a girl who gets shoes from her grandmother for Christmas each year that are supposed to have magic powers.

That would be terrible! As soon as you grew out of a pair of shoes, you would lose the magic powers you had.
