So I'm watching TV Guide and they're counting down the 10 best animated movies. Guess which movie beat out The Lion King for the #1 spot.... Shrek. Can you believe this? It shocked me. Do you guys think Shrek was better than the Lion King?

That's a joke! Although while we are on the subject, Beauty and the Beast is better than both of those films.

I think that one was somewhere between #4-#6

That's a travesty!
I like Shrek, but I wouldn't have rated it as #1 animated movie. The Lion King is one movie that is definitely better than Shrek.

How could Shrek beat the Lion King? I mean the Lion King is THE LION KING, it is one of the best movies and the Shrek movies only started getting good after the second one.

Personally I see the lion king as the better movie of the two. Out of curiousity, did the list contain any none american movies? Since the title says Hollywoods.

Agree to disagree?

After the second one meaning everyone except the first or just the third of fourth?

I think Spirited Away was the only non-originally-American movie. But I think Finding Nemo was worked on in a couple countries so that one might not count as strictly American either.

Wait.... did 2012 come early? What is this?! This is the apocalypse right?! Someone beep Buffy. -____- Lion King is the number one animated film EVER

I think Shrek is better than The Lion King. I don't think Shrek should be #1 though, that spot belongs to Toy Story.

I think Toy Story was #3
1)Sleeping Beauty
2)Beauty and the Beast
3)Cinderella
4)The Princess and the Frog
5)Aristocats
6)The Rescuers
7)Lady and the Tramp
8)Secret of nimh
9)All dogs go to Heaven
10)Rio

I think that I would have to go with "Beauty And The Beast." Of all of the Disney productions, it's my favorite. Followed very, VERY closely by "Bambi," then "Snow White." Unless we can allow "Fantasia."

Do they mean Shrek was the most successful money wise? Cause that's the only logical explanation that would make number 1!! Lion King is hundreds times better all around!

But my favorite is definitely The Fox & The Hound....the rescuers and the aristocats!!!!

Anyone remember THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVES?!! so good!

The Fox & the Hound karma!
In no way is Shrek better than the Lion King. The Lion King has better music, better villains, better everything!

I haven't seen the lion king, but I don't like Shrek. It just creeps me out. The first film was ok, but I wanted to be sick in the second one. I get that Shrek teaches kids the important lesson that its what inside that counts, but does it have to teach them in such a creepy way?

You haven't seen the Lion King? What are you waiting? Hurry up and watch it, like now! :)
I think Shreks better then the Lion King, I loved the first Shrek, one of the funniest movies I've seen (although I've watched it far to many times now, so don't find it as funny)

IMO anything by Aardman or Pixar has my vote...and, given the number of Oscars they've both won, the Academy's vote as well 🙂 But Shrek v Lion King is always Shrek for me...Lion King was a very good traditional animation but Shrek tapped in to a post modern vibe that I liked.
