Holy Smokes Batman! Christian Bale's Gone Off!

I don't know any actors/actresses and people keep saying this is kind of a common thing on movies, but I think if you can find an actor with the same talent (which, in my opinion you could - the guy doesn't seem THAT amazing), then why waste your time with someone like him? If he's not careful, in a few years when the Jonas brothers are old enough to play big boys, he's gonna be out of a job.

he still looks like a bird to me. no attraction there. he is a GOOD actor, i think there are a fair number of actors better than him though. but ive liked his roles thus far.

He's still a douche. And i'd say it to his face.

After listening to that I am more than convinced that this guy is the biggest clown EVER to be in a movie. And given his HORRENDOUS acting (Heath Ledger was the only redeeming feature of the overblown, over-long Dark Knight fiasco) I hope he never works again. He'll probably kill the Terminator franchise.

On a side note I think this behaviour is very unprofessional. Musicians gauge their professionalism by being able to keep playing through any distraction. Why not actors?

Wow...talk about going overboard. Wouldnt be surprised if this effects him getting 1 or 2 roles but not that big of an impact on his career. And that Remix is TOTALLY going on a cd so I can listen to it in my car lol.

As someone who has spent a fair bit of time with actors, honestly I have no issue with this.

Lets assume that Christian is doing an intensely emotional scene and forget that this guy interrupted him, he's already manipulated his own emotions to be at a certain point and this DP probably messed up at the wrong time.

I would imagine that when Christian calmed down he found the guy and sorted it out.

agreed. I mean, obviously the dude has some rolemodel function, but no one likes to be interupted doing something important and challenging. The DP was probably at the wrong place, wrong time and I can imagine, for an actor, that would be majorly annoying since you don't want to do some important and emotionally difficult scene over and over again. I think he just got carried away a bit.
Also, he's visually very pleasing, so he'd have to do a bit more than saying some naughty words to make me upset ^^

Ohhh see, more is emerging

The rant on set in New Mexico came last July, days before Bale's arrest by British police investigating claims that he lashed out at his mother and sister in a London hotel. Clips have been made public on websites.

BBC apologises for airing Bale rant - Yahoo! News UK

I don't care about the rest of the interview, but this is very interesting and puts a different spin on the topic.

I thought he had done it recently BUT it turns out this was around the time he was having some serious familial issues.

I think we've ALL lashed out at the wrong someone when we've had stresses on our mind.

See, this is what I mean when I go on about context people.

I agree with you EB - the spin that was put on it made it seem like it happened just this week.

I've just listened to an on air call that Christian did on a radion station that is available on TMZ. Any man can make a mistake but it takes a big man to own up to it and admit what he did was wrong. Not only does it sound like an honest apology and not the usual 'statement release' but he openly admits that he has no excuse for what he did but that he resents the opinion that he thinks he is better than anyone else and if he ever gets like that then that is him he is done.

Given this happened prior to the whole 'mother incident' I would have thought it would have leaked then. Its certainly not changed what I think about the guy, it would be a poor judgement call on me considering the blow ups i've had.

Well, putting aside when it happened or the reasons for the audio's release, there isn't enough information there to convince me I was wrong about him being a douche. If anything, it sounds like he was being a prick to as family in addition to everyone around him. How much do you have to lash out before a police investigation opens up? Sorry, I don't care if he's good looking. That's a poor excuse for this kind of behavior, which still sounds sketchy even with a little more context.

He was having some severe family disagreements at the time, which if I remember correctly were regarding his families disapproval of his wife.

I have read enough to believe this was a tipping point in his families disputes and the DP was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Anyone who has taken an anger or frustration out on someone else JUST because they were there is human - but I prefer the term douche actually.
I guarantee every single person has done that so we're all douches!

Every person has had a police investigation into their anger towards their family and yelled at an innocent bystander for like 3 and half minutes (and forty f-bombs) and had the audacity to suggest the other person involved was unprofessional? Sorry, don't buy into it. Just a week ago, I was let go from my job for reasons entirely outside of my control, and I walked out with my dignity intact and took it out on no one. The guy has a serious temper problem (maybe he and Michael Richards should become buddies) at best, and is out of his mind at worst.

I didn't say that, I said that we've all taken out our frustrations on someone else at the wrong time.

None of us know what actually happened, all we do know is that this was taken at a time when he was obviously dealing with something else.

Was it an over the top reaction - to me, a bystander if you will, yes BUT then again I have been so angry at my family on occasion that if the wrong person did something at the wrong time, I could easily have verbally laid into them.

Moments later I would have felt like crap and said sorry, but if you get me at the right time, then boom.

Kudos on not losing it when you were fired/made redundant, but imagine if the people you cared the most about were constantly telling you that the person you love most in the world was the wrong person for you, bitched them out at every opportunity, didn't allow them to attend family functions/events/gatherings and this lasted for quite some time, you don't think eventually you would get even a little annoyed, and in THAT case, even the smallest of annoyances could spark an over the top reaction?

If anyones answer to that is anything other than 'yes, you're right, I possibly could do that' then you really ARE a douche.

Note: This was all the stuff that was apparently the cause of the Bale family fall out in the Dorchester mere days after the incident.

If Bale did this to a co-worker in any other job he'd be formally reprimanded.

I appreciate that actors tend to be in a fairly high emotional gear during filming, but that's not the same as being, you know, severely unhinged. He's still responsible for his douchey actions. He's a bloody actor, not a werewolf.

He was ridiculously unprofessional, and I couldn't care less what his excuses were. "Family circumstances" or no, you don't bring that crap to bear on somebody who has to work with you. Or rather, if you do, you're a douche.

So yeah, +1 to the Douche side of the jury.

Actually, work would take into account "Family circumstances" and IF deemed stressful enough would dismiss the reprimand IF an apology was given.

I love the fact that everyone is ragging on Christian Bale because there was obviously some stress on him that he didn't know how to deal with.

This just makes him human and not a robot that compartmentalises his feelings because sometimes that is impossible.

Are actors kind of self employed? If that is the case I'm sure he has been reprimanded by circumstance as they will have repercussions.

I'd think his outbursts - should they continue- would negatively effect his employment opportunities regardless of talent or looks. Given enough rope he will hang himself if his apology is not sincere and this bad behavior becomes a pattern.

He did say he's sorry, was having home problems, and doing an emotional scene(?). I imagine that plays into whatever equation we all individually use when judging someone, context and all.

He may have anger problems and his actions are wrong, even given the excuses. But my own equation has been worked out and to me the crime is far from unforgivable...and he did ask for forgiveness.

I recant my previous verdict of him being Duechbag and instead say he exhibited duechbag behavior, (unless said behavior becomes habitual) He in turn apologized for the pig manners. I hope that it was true regret and not just simply CYA.

I suspect the only reason this is news is because he is famous, because the behavior itself is common enough, part of the reason apologize were invented, I'd guess. 🙂
