Rewatching 'Homecoming', I wonder why at this particular time, of all times, Xander realizes Willow is hot? Was he blind for the past two seasons or just an idiot? It wasn't like he didn't know Willow had a huge thing for him; he mentioned it numerous times. So why does he pick the worst time possible, when they are both happily dating others, to finally kiss her?

I think the writers had to find something interesting to shake up the couples a little. They all can't be happy too long, that's just not the way of Buffy. Also, Charisma was leaving the show so they had to break her and Xander up somehow. I guess thee writers felt that having him cheat on her with Willow would be a good way for her to leave.

I didn't like it too much. If Willow and Xander should have EVER gotten together it should have been in When She Was Bad or sometime before What's My Line. But waiting this long was annoying. I was a W/X shipper until Oz came. Then by season 3, it was long gone. I think that was the only time I was disappointed in Xander. And that one-night stand with Faith in "The Zeppo". EEW! NO!

Im not a fan of Willow and Xander as a couple, as friends yeah im a huge fan, but couple...nah!

And YC, I think his one-night stand with Faith was perfect. They weren't attached so we didn't have to wait for this budding relationship, it then scarred him sexually from then on plus Faith is the gal every guy equally needs and not needs on their first time. I wouldn't say no, would you? (If you were male that is)

I'm glad Willow and Xander never became a real couple. They were sweet together but I agree that they were always best as friends.
A reason why that was the first time they kissed could also be that it was homecoming, they were all dressed up, they were both in serious relationships, I think that because of that both of them felt or realized that they had "grown up" in a way. They weren't the kids they used to be when they were growing up together. They were older, and had maybe stopped being the kind of friends they used to be, and they weren't sure what their friendship had turned into, or was turning into, and they had all these feelings and well... followed those feelings and ended up in a new, weird, interesting, hard situation...

I dont think xander and willow suit each other. i hated it when cordy found out and she nearly got herself killed!! when she fell and the stick went through her stomach i thought she was dead!

I think Xander and Willow are better as friends. There was something that really bothered me when they were sneaking around with their secret affair. In Lover's Walk we see that Willow felt really guilty about cheating on Oz and she wanted to use magic in order to make her and Xander's feelings go away. On the other hand, Xander didn't feel guilty about cheating on Cordy at all. He was the one that always made the advances at Willow. It's as if he had no feelings for Cordy whatsoever. I think the only reason he felt bad at the end is because Cordelia got impaled by a crobar. I just feel like they could've at least have Xander show a little guilt for cheating on Cordy.

I do think he feels bad about what he did, but I don't think that Xander is very big with going around and feeling guilty, he's more like: Yea what I did was wrong but going around feeling guilty won't make it undone. I'm not saying I think it's the right way of tackle a problem but I that's the way I think Xander thinks.. And also he did go to Cordy at the hospital, and I really felt like he was remorse then, and he left all those messages for Cordy..

I personally think Xander and Buffy belonged together 😀 But then again, I am weird 🙂

Your not weird. I think it should be like that too! 🙂

I think that a part of Xander was impressed by Willow's new status as a powerful witch, just as he was impressed by Buffy's role as the Slayer; and Cordelia's aggressive nature. He wants to be with a woman who is not like mom - weak-willed and a potential victim of abuse. And all because he doesn't want to end up like his father.

ok, i got why xander was attracted to willow all of a sudden. he was so wrapped up in buffy and then cordy, that he didn't know what a beautiful woman willow was becoming, until he saw her in her homecoming dress. so yeah, i get that, i get that they were teenagersd with raging hormones thy couldn't control.

but as soon as oz and cordy found out, those homores just faded. the ep after 'lover's walk' they acted as if they had never made out. if they were so attracted to each other, shouldn't there have been something after 'lover's walk'?

This actually always aggravated me. I loved Willow and Oz together, and I just plain out loved Oz's character, so I was highly pissed when they started the whole Xander/Willow more-than-friends relationship. I wish they could've just left well enough alone. 🙁 I felt so sorry for Oz, watching Lover's Walk again today and watching him give Willow the Pez-Witch, knowing what was going to happen.

On another note, and this is a bit OT, but am I the only one who almost had a stroke in Lover's Walk when they showed the Grave scene? I'm sure I wasn't, but the first time I saw that, I was like "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?" hahaha.:silly:

There was something after Lovers Walk. In The Wish when they were in the Bronze and Xander put his hand on Willows knee. She mentioned that he couldnt do that anymore because of Oz. Now I know that that wasnt showing an attraction thing, just friendship, but it does explain why they never showed anything else. Willow felt too guilty and realised what a mistake she made. She wanted to do everything she could to get Oz back. She wasnt in love with Xander so she didnt carry on the attraction. As for Xander, well he didnt have a choice.

Oh, and Id assume the reason XAnder didnt seem to feel as guilty as Willow did is because he wasnt in love with Cordy. Willow loved Oz.

Im not saying thats an excuse, its just a possible reason.

Yeah I agree with everone that said it was because this was the first time they saw eachother as grown ups.

Also I think their feelings were fuled more by lust then actual feelings, and the doing everything in secret probably fueled that, so it's no big suprise that their feelings dissapeared after thry were caught!

lust, always wanting what you don't have.
for willow it was a bit understandable because she'd loved xander for so long. But xander, he'd always made it plain that he wasn't attracted to willow in that way so it always seemed a little strange. although, now when i think about it, in becoming part 2 he seems Jealous that willow asks for oz, not him so i think there might be a bit of spite, or maliciousness to trying to break up willow and oz. its a bit predatory - willow is mine, whether i want her or not kind of thing. I really like how cordelia never really forgives xander, she's got very high standards for herself and never accepts second best. I just watched Lover's Walk last night - that is such a great episode!

oh, btw - xander and buffy? eewww. it would be like a brother and a sister getting together!

Didn't really see the chemistry between Willow/Xander personally.
I think the only time I liked the Buffy+Xander thing was when he was a hyena... that was hot, I'm not sure why I like him when he's evil.. 😛 Hmm.. I must have a thing for bad guys or something, oi I'm such a cliche.

Here here!! That's always bugged me but like Joss said. When characters are happy viewers lose interest but when they're in pain or depressed, the viewers intently follow the storyline.
