Does anyone else think that was a little harsh? Especially given that Xander is one of Buffy's closest friends. I'd be a little insulted if I were in his position there.

Also...brie? It amuses me to try and think of any plausible situation where that could be a relevant weakness.

Are you sure that you haven't misinterpreted this? I don't think it means Xander is a weakness because he is not cool or whatever, it means that he is her weakness because she will fall for him.
I hope you see what I mean, I don't think I've explained it very well.

I agree about it coming across as being very harsh to someone who was one of her best friends.

I think Buffy sees it as a weakness because Cordelia was deeply hurt by Xander.

In "Dead Man's Party" Cordy comes down firmly anti-Brie. And as we know from S4 that Buffy likes cheese, maybe it's Cordy's negativity to Brie that irks Buffy :tongue3:

Alternately, maybe we misunderstand. The girl Amy tries to set Willow up with in "Smashed" is named Brie. Maybe it's her?

I agree with MrWhite. I don't think Buffy is refering to Xander as Cordys weekness not in a bad way, but in a way that she's in love with him.. as she said later in the episode.

Hmm, I'm not sure, there's been a lot of tension btwn Buffy & Xander since she returned, and it doesn't seem completely resolved, so I can see it inferring either way.

I love the Cordy/Buffy interaction in this episode. "You've awakened the Prom Queen within."- classic Buffy. Cordy's speech to Lyle is awesome, I love seeing her character develop more ("What? I can't have layers?"). This is the Cordy I like in AtS (well, until the horror that is seasons 4 and 5 anyway).

And shirtless Angel doing Tai Chi? Makes this entire episode worth watching IMO (don't barf, Spuffers LOL!).

The Xander/Willow kiss? I just don't know what I think about this storyline. Honestly, the season could've done without it, and it's resolved fairly quickly (except for Cordy's breakup), although it certainly makes Xander's constant accusations of Buffy all the more hypocritical.
