Hey, I was sitting at my computer and I had the weirdest thought. What are ya'll favorite hot sauces?

Mine is Frank's Red Hot Hot Sauce

My favorite has got to be the hottest sauce known to man. You can't buy it in any store, though. My girfriend, who hails from the country of Guyana, makes it.

The pepper she uses is the hottest known there, called the "Guyana Tragedy Pepper" (actual name). I tell ya, this stuff is nuclear...and it burns the hair off my friggin' body every time I eat it, but damn her sauce is tasty. Just a tiny splash of the sauce will do it. Any more would mean certain death.

Wow! I would love to try some of that. I love hot things and I'm always looking for new sauces to try.

My favorite hot sauce would be the one that comes with a lifetime supply of Rolaids!

Hearburn + hot sauce = TROUBLE!

Has your good lady ever made chili for anyone involved with the Simpsons?
Her sauce sounds like Chief Wiggum's "Guatemalan Insanity Pepper" chili from the ep El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Homer I guess their writers must have also experienced the Guyana Tragedy Pepper as well 🙂

Anyhoo, I don't have a favourite as hot sauces aren't as big here in Merrie Olde Englande (TM). I tend to make my chilis from scratch rather than adding a ready-made sauce but I have had occasion to taste Dave's Insanity Sauce (brought back from New Mexico as a present for our friend Dave ) and I have to say "Are you people freaking mad"...I like spicy food a lot but that sauce was not a pleasurable experience and I only had a couple of drops 🙂

Mrs P and I spent a couple of pleasant hours in this shop -
http://www.chilipepperemporium.com/ in Albuquerque - and were absolutely astonished to see the huge range of hot sauces that were available. The guy must have had hundreds of different bottles. I highly recommend a visit...

Well... I'm not so much into hot sauces myself. I do enjoy an occasional curry or chilli dish but I'm not a fan of having my mouth set on fire very often! Know what I mean? I love the taste of spicy food but the fiery aftertaste is a little much for me. Water doesn't even help (well it does for a split second and then it's "AY AY AY!!!" again.)!

My dad is middle eastern so he makes all these different spicy foods and spicy sauces which taste awesome... i dont have a fav but all his recipes rock... at the rate he's cooking at he could open up his own resturant!!

Tabasco! Definitely! I could drink that stuff... and I have on occasion. It's really good to put in your drink too!

Water doesn't help. If you eat some hot or spicey food and your mouth is burning, eat a piece of bread. It'll work. Trust me.

Mr. Pointy: Well, its official. I now am canceling any future plans I was ever planning to make to England. I refuse to go somewhere where they don't like hot sauce. Well, no...I can always bring my own! 😀 But a lot of people I talk to from up north in the US hate hot sauce too, so maybe its just southerners. You can hardly find a Texan who hates hot sauce. LOL.

Don't cancel your plans hon...I know where I can get my hands of a bottle of Dave's Insanity sauce (almost untouched - see above 🙂)...actually, we're not really that uncivilised - most supermarkets have a speciality section where you can get things like hot sauce, pickled things that Brits generally don't like 😉 and other exotic delicacies...and there's always tabasco sauce, which seems to be pretty much everywhere

Thanks for the tip. I'll remember that next time my mouth is on fire... 🙂 Water really doesn't help so, if it's really bad, I tend to walk around the house with my mouth wide open for a little while. Next time I'll just eat some bread... makes more sense!

Yeah, or youghurt (and I've heard that milk works the same way).

I try to eat really hot sauces but I'm just no good at it. I love it for a little while but then I go insane. So yeah.

Woo-hoo! This is great. My whole schedule is back on track. Now if only I can remember where I put it... Well, its good to know that Brits are being hot sauce friendly. It makes me so happy...LOL

LOL, well my brother does stick his mouth in front of the fan sometimes, so maybe it works...personally, I've found that bread works, and it doesn't completely lack dignity. 😀

Hmm, I haven't tried youghurt, but milk doesn't work as well as bread with me. Maybe it just depends on your personal taste-bud configuration...I'll try youghurt sometime though. Thanks for the suggestion!

My mom makes these things called 'wings of fire.' Remind me never to bring them to the BB picnic (hehehe) they would probably put some of you in the hospital...just the smell of them make your eyes water and your nose run. That's some good eatin'! 😉

Who said Englishmen arent hot sauce friendly? I love the stuff, I could drink tabasco all day. Mmmmmmm. Tabasco.
