House of Night Series

We just got the first couple of these in to my school library. I think I'll put them on hold now. Thanks for the rec 🙂

My friend absolutely loves these novels, unfortunately Im not a big fan of reading (I don't have the patience) but from what shes told me these books do sound really good.

I've read the first two and I liked them ok.

But they ARE better than Twlight.

I may read the third if my library has them.

I have every single one of them. They do a great job of setting up the stories. I can't believe, however, that Vampire Academy has more fans. No way is that series better. Sometimes I feel guilty for liking it, because at times its kinda cheesy (mentioning the "twins" and Damien's "gayness" as well as her obsesssion with "brown pop and doritos" every other page) but I can't stop myself from reading them.

There were quite a few predictable turns, but there were enough that I didn't see coming that I didn't give up on the series. I finished "Hunted" about a month or so ago so it's probably going to be a little while before I re-read them but you may have just sparked my interest enough to start.

Edit:

I realized there's another one coming out soon. It's called "Tempted".

I think my little sister is reading these..

Are these the ones where Vampires are like a known thing and that some people have to get sent to this like Vampire school?

All I remember was like you get the mark and then you have to go and be a vampire? Is that right?

Oh sounds good, can anyone go into a bit more detail?

without Spoilers 🙂🙂🙂????

Basically, this is an Alternate universe, much like our own, but where everyone knows that vampires exist and are an "accepted" part of society. However, vamps are still are somewhat ostracized by non-vamps. People are "chosen" to be vamps by "trackers". So the books are about a high school age girl who is chosen to be a vampire, and at first she rejects it. So it's about her fitting into this new life. Because all new vamps are sent to a "finishing school for vampires" where they learn vampire stuff lol

My flatmate (well future flatmate) has been reading these and I suggested them. I kinda discounted it as I didn't think it would be my thing but if you recommend them then I will give them a shot.

Just to expand on that a little:

When a person is marked by a vampire, their body can choose to accept the change, in which case they become a full vampire, or their body rejects the change and they die. That becomes important the more the series goes on.

Also, some vampires can gain an "affinity" for different elements, in which case they can influence or control the element they have an affinity for. That is also important.

I've read the whole series. I liked them, but most of my friends are far more passionate about them than I am.

I'd like to start reading them i actually have them all wrote down so when i go to the library i can check to see if they have any avaliable or maybe see if they will be circulating the county soon...
