The BB Staff has spent the past several weeks talking about how we can improve the site and make it work better for everyone.
One of the main problems we tackled was inactivity in some of the dorms and how to make them work better.
What we have decided to do is a revamp of the dorm system.
We are going to be cutting down the number of dorms from four to two brand new ones, with a twist: one dorm is for "Heroes" and one is for "Villains". You will be able to choose which dorm you wish you join, but choose wisely! You will not be able to switch after you've made your decision.
To join a dorm, go into your User CP, and choose Group Memberships from the list at the left, under Networking. You will see Black Thorn and Sineya both listed. Tick the space next to Join Group for the house you wish to join, and then click on the Join Group button.
The House of Sineya is the dorm of Heroes, while the House of the Black Thorn is the dorm of Villains.
As in the previous dorm system, each will have a private forum viewable only to members of that dorm. We have two brand spanking new color schemes decorating these forums (thank you to Black Eye Guy!).
Because we didn't have enough nominations in order to hold elections for prefects, we have decided to hold off on having them for a time until activity picks up. The staff members in each House will take care of anything that needs doing. Black Eye Guy (with the help of the other mods) will continue to be in charge of House comps, and he has some really great ideas in the works. So look for those coming soon!
We recognize that some people have very strong dorm ties, and we also know that this represents a big change for some of you. But we hope this brings something exciting, fresh and fun to the board, so please give it a chance. There is nothing that says if this doesn't work out, that we couldn't go back to the old system. We will not be deleting anything from the old forums, and at least for a time, you will still be able to view the posts from your old dorm. You also will be able to post in the old dorms through the weekend, so as to finish up any current conversations.
On a related note, as I said the staff has been working hard on board improvements. The new comics forums & reread, the new SHIELD forum, and a revamped BBTV are just a few of these. There also have been some changes to the staff, so please check out the updated list here.
Personally, I am really pleased with the group of members we have here at the moment and the general feeling of the board. There's really a renewed spirit around here, and I would like to suggest to everyone (as I have with the staff) to take this as a fresh start here on the board. Try to leave personal feelings about other members behind and look with new eyes on your fellow posters, reading their posts for what they actually say rather than colored by preconceived notions about that person. I think in recent past all of us have been quick to jump to conclusions when reading posts, and I think if we try to avoid that, the board can stay a happy place for everyone.

So I have to admit that this sounds awesome but I'm gonna miss my Merrick! If you happen to see me grumbling its because I'm old and stodgy and don't wanna let go. I'm kinda sad not gonna lie.
