How aware is Snyder?

We saw that Snyder is aware of Vampires at the least. Do you think he knew Buffy was the slayer? The know the mayor knew who she was. Do you think the mayor just told Snyder to specifically target her for no reason or do you think Wilkins told Snyder she was the slayer?

At the very least we know that Snyder was in cahoots with the mayor to target Buffy.

I personally believe that Snyder knew everything apart from Buffy being the Slayer. He was, for all intents and purposes, working for the Mayor, and I figure that he didn't actually understand that the Mayor was the bad guy.

I don't think Snyder was a bad guy, I think he was a little too set in his ways with regards to what he wanted from his school and his students, and he was manipulated by the Mayor. If the Mayor was using Snyder to keep tabs on Buffy, and to cover-up all the unexplainable events, I think he might have convinced Snyder that Buffy was the bad guy and the Mayor was the one trying to keep the town safe.

You can see, late in S3, that Snyder's starting to suspect that maybe all's not right with the Mayor, especially that scene in the cafeteria, but he's in too deep to do anything about it. Then, in 'Graduation Day' he finally realizes that the Mayor is evil, but then he gets eaten before he can come to terms with that revelation, lol.

Lol. I'm not sure if Snyder thought the mayor was evil in the end as much as he was causing chaos. Not even a true demon is allowed to break Snyder's rule of law and order. One week of detention for the mayor.

I agree, except I'm not sure if the mayor is as innocent as you think. I always took it as Snyder worked for the mayor as some sort of accomplice/supporter. Then as the mayor heard of Buffy defeating Luke and preventing the harvest (among other victories Buffy had accomplished while she had been in Sunnydale), he placed Snyder in SHS to keep tabs on Buffy and try to get her expelled so that she and her mom would be forced to leave Sunnydale thereby leaving the town helpless come his ascension. I know that sounds very detailed and planned, but it makes sense to me: Snyder had it out for Buffy specifically as soon as he met her and her friends. And at the end of Becoming, the second he expelled Buffy, he called the mayor. That would lead me to believe it was because it was an order the mayor gave him, and as soon as Snyder completed his task, he was excited to report back to his boss. And then in the beginning of s3, when Joyce tells Snyder she'll go straight to the mayor, he isn't moved. Because the mayor wanted Buffy out of Sunnydale.

This. Exactly my thoughts...
I don't think Snyder was evil. I think he wanted to be a powerful man, and he ended up getting sucked into evil doings without really knowing what he was doing.
I don't think he knew Buffy was the Slayer, but I think he knew exactly what was going on in Sunnydale as far as the demons and vampires running around.
