Everytime I see 'Willy's Bar' or 'Willy's Place' in an episode of Buffy I always get wondering about him 🙄 Like how did he get to be involved with demons??? Was his bar supposed to be aimed for the undead or did he build a nice place for people and the demons just took over?? 😕 I always wanted to know his story 🙂 Plus I just like his place, it seems very welcoming and homely, well it does to me anyway lol 🙄😀
So what are your opinions on Willy the Snitch???

nice that you post a picture of him, that makes it easier to remember!
Did Willy die? I don't ever remember them saying anything about that, only Riley and the bartender mentioning that Willy wasn't there.

Well I realize that I don't know very much about him! Let's make some brainstorm?

-barkeeper
-get involved with demons
-does a lot for money
-is getting sometimes in deep troble

Try to complete the enumeration!

Willy was cool, he made me laugh and after he cleaned his place up I might have gone. 😀

That's all I have to say really.

I thought he was brilliant, though the idea that a human was able to successfully run a demon bar without suffering a premature death is somewhat hard to believe.

When was he supposed to have died, do we know? Would have been nice to see him in the later seasons.

Willy to me just seemed to disappear into the ether without much explanation. It was quite annoying really that they didn't just explain where he was. I'm a curious person so I'd have liked to know.

Exactly! Willy just disappears after season 4
haaa great thread idea!

One of my favourite Willy scenes is in Whats My Line? Pt III:

Willy: I, I have to ask. (Buffy and Kendra look back) Has either of you girls
considered modeling? I have a friend with a camera? Strictly high-class
nude work. You know, art photographs. But naked.

Buffy and Kendra exchange a look and just walk out without a word.

Willy: You don't have to answer right away.

HAAA

🙂

LOVE that scene!
I never thought that Willie died, I just figured that he left Sunnydale, either in search of greener pastures or to avoid dome demon who he had snitched on. Actually, I always figured that he would pop up working at Lorne's bar someday, like Harmony working at W&H.

We never heard for sure that Willy died... I always kinda figured, though, that his clientele made him an appetizer. Not a full meal, 'cause you know... he was a tiny man.

My personal favorite line from Willy was:

Willy (to Xander): Hey, kid you did well, I was very intimidated.
Xamder: Really?

Willy just gives him a reassuring but somewhat patronizing nod.

LOL Love that moment. :)
A Neutral Ground in the Buffyverse

I always like Willy's Place because, thematically, it was a neutral space between good and evil. And as such, Willy was an amoral -- not really moral or immoral -- character. He looked out for himself and his bar. So, I wonder: Would a person like him be ethically obligated to fight evil and not to help demons (by providing entertainment) -- or is there a place for someone like him?

Of course there's room for a place like Willy's on BtVS or Caritas on AtS, after all at the end of a long day of wreaking havoc or slaying demons isn't nice to have a relaxing drink at a quality establishment where you can sit back and talk about whatever you did that day.
