How Cordelia could have been worked into S5?

If Cordelia had been in S5, what kind of storyline would you have seen for her? Would she have woke up from her coma immediately, or would they have had to find someone to get her out of it? Would she have died later in the season anyway? I'm curious to read everyone's opinions.

I would love to have seen the development of a real romantic relationship between Cordy and Angel. And I think a Spike/Cordy friendship would have been brilliant; I love their brief interactions in "You're Welcome," (if you can call them "interactions.") There'd have been lots of bickering, but lots of respect for one another. The two of them have a similar way of seeing the world when all is said and done, and they'd keep each other in line.
I loved the chemistry among Cordy/Gunn/Wesley, and I think after all they'd been through she would take on a bit of a motherly role in the group.

As for getting her out of the coma: I'd like to think that the PTB would decide that she wasn't ready to go; that she could still do plenty of good by Angel's side, and that she deserved to carry out her life as she wanted. They'd also realize that she was a fantastic companion for Angel, (whether romantically or not), which would be further motivation for keeping her on Earth. So they'd be the ones to end her coma. But seriously, I haven't thought it through at all! This is just off the top of my head.

I would've liked for her to at least wake up at the beginning of the season & have some kind of amazing last storyline & then they could still do her goodbye in You're Welcome later on in the season. It still makes me sad that for the last season Cordy was on the show, it wasn't really Cordy.

Exactly! And she was in a coma for one-third of the season anyway! I think it would have been really interesting watching her coping with the ramifications of her actions while possessed by jasmine in season 4. I mean, she killed a couple of people! I'm more unsure about how she would fit in at W&H. Part of me thinks she would go, because it's Angel after all. But another part of me is unsure if she could stomach it. All of the others seem to have powerful motives for going. Cordy was given the choice to have a successful acting character (the only big thing she seemed to want) in season 3 and rejected it. I'm trying to think of what W&H could offer her to compel her to go, and the only thing I can come up with is Angel himself. I just missed her so much in season 5, and think the way they dealt with her (the actress and the character) was shameful. I do love You're Welcome of course. We lost a lot of people in season 5, so it wouldn't have been unheard of if we had lost her too. Angel would have taken that hard, probably the hardest for him besides Buffy & Connor.

I would have liked for her to be in a relationship with Angel in season 5. Perhaps taking a more active role in fighting demons with him to redeem herself for what she did in season 4, although I don't like the idea of a depressed Cordelia (maybe only for the first few episodes). I think it would be best if she was in the finale, since her and Angel were the only 2 original Fang Gang members.

Damn you for not having Cordelia in season 5 Joss!

I think Cordelia in season 5 would have been great. She would have all the memories of what she did when she was possessed, which would naturally cause her to agonize over what happened. This could have helped strengthen her bond with Angel, as he deals with similar issues over what he did while Angelus. I can picture him helping her through this, and I think the experience would have actually strengthened both of them.

When you look at the end of S5, every single character can fight well, I don't how Cordelia would have done in the final alleyway fight, but I agree she would have been able to stop a lot of things, perhaps even stopping the gang from going to Wolfram and Hart in the first place, which would have saved Fred. Cordelia always had a big influence on the gang and she would have been brilliant in S5.

I just watched "You're Welcome" and it's obviously really sad that she won't be in the rest of the episodes 🙁

I feel like these are general knowledge but if anyone could clear it up that'd be great:

-In "You're Welcome", when she came back to help Angel, she was actually "there" and seen by all of the team right? It wasn't some alternate reality that only Angel saw or anything?
-She is a spirit guide now? Not just dead but a "higher power"?
