How could Angel rescue Kate?

Can anyone explain this to me please because I seem to have missed it.

In "Epiphany" Kate tried to kill herself and Angel came to rescue her. He could just enter her apartment without being asked in. It was no mistake in the episode, because they made it an issue but did not explain it.

Was Kate actually dead for a few seconds before Angel revived her or why was it that he could come in without an invitation? I am confused...

It's possible, but I got the impression that they were trying to say that there was no logical explaination (i.e. devine intervention). Also, I don't know if it's possible to revive someone from a drug overdose with cold water if they are already dead....
 
^Good point, but if I try to analyze it too much, I'll get a headache. I'm sure there's a better explanation, but the one involving her being revived after being dead for a few minutes with is the best one I can think of. But then, Buffy had been dead for a few minutes before being revived by Xander in Buffy S1's "Prophecy Girl". It's true that drowning and overdosing are quite different, however reviving someone isn't entirely impossible.

Angel: "Why?"
Kate: "Because I never invited you in."

from Angel Season 2 Epiphany. I think it was an act of the Powers that Be or even Jasmine. I do not think she was dead because I doubt that just running her head under the shower would revive her, unless someone with more medical knowledge can tell me differently because honestly I have no idea.
 
Thanks a lot for the quotes, Shimmer. I couldn't quite remember what was going on then.

I am not a spiritual person, so I'd go with the revival theory but after that... it is not my believes that are depicted in the series but it is about Angels redemption and The Powers That Be.

Maybe it was a small gift for Angel from them so as to give him further incentive to go on fighting for the good cause.

Just a thought there...

I think it was a small gift too, maybe Kate had a role to play elsewhere so the Powers let Angel enter. Maybe it was purely for Angel we may never know I just don't think she was dead when Angel entered.
 
I totally agree that their was intervention on the Powers that Be. I don't think she was dead either.

Another thought though, perhaps she will play a role in Angel in the seasons to come? If we got anything from last season it's that everything is sort of pre-determined and the Powers seem to be working everything according to their plan.

Actually, that's a cool thought Red. It would be kinda interesting to see some resolution to her storyline. But Kate (Liz Rohm) is on Law & Order full time and I can't see her ever coming back. Besides, Law & Order airs on a different network and those crazy TV execs don't like to share their toys. 🙂
 
Hehe yes you are probably right. BUT..things could change by the time Angel is ready to wrap up and she may no longer be on L&O (Great show BTW!). Or, she may have signed a contract with ME et. al. stating she'd return, and any future show who signed her would be aware of that.

It's fun guessing how it all may play out though! 🙂

I don't know about that either but i think it's a valid point to say that there was an intervention by the powers! They've done it a few times!

i thought she had just passed out and was on her way to being dead...


does this mean if the ptb interviened she will be in the new season of angel....ooo i hope so
 
I don't know why but i kept getting the impression that he'd done a "Pulp Fiction needle thing" on her and then threw her in the shower, or well at least something like that...

If the "Powers That Be" allowed Angel to enter her apartment with her still alive, then Kate must have some part in the final apocalyse or other such important event.

Just to be sure I think Angel should hunt her down and make her sing in front of Lorne, just to be sure. Because you know, Angel must be as confused as the rest of us.
 
I don't think it was that she has a role in the apocalypse, I think it was to show Angel, who at that point was very unsociable, that he needs his friends.
 
From the DVD they make it clear that she is not Dead and there was somthing going on.

they wanted to bring some closure to this plot but didnt get round to it for whatever reason.

personally i think the series has moved on a bit much since then. also i never much cared for kate 😉
 
she was nice and I think they wanted to do with her sth bigger, but it simply didn't go as they wanted...
